I don't know what software you're using, SAL, but I find BitLord is a lot quicker than utorrent!

I'm using the very same software as you. All you need to do is to configure your router firewall to stop disallowing incoming connections. I would take a look at port forwarding. Here is a nice step by step website to walk you through it!
