Gauntlet stats
Hi all,
As you might be aware, the Gauntlet hasn't had the best of luck with regards to how they have been able to display the daily results.
However, the good news is that help is at hand and a few people are mucking in to produce something meaningful.
Page 36 of the SETI@NL forum thread is here
(pre-Gauntlet stuff is viewable in earlier pages - later post-Gauntlet start date stuff is on the following pages....but the stats start on the page linked to !!)
UPDATE:
Seems the Dutch Power Cows have let their stats wizards at the Gauntlet stats as well.
Week ONE stats:
page one here
and page two is here
Week TWO stats:
page one here
and page two is here
and page three is:
here
UPDATE 2:
There's another stats chart to look at here for individuals
and here for the team stats.
regards
Tim

Hi all,
By the looks of the stats after 3 full days, the Gauntlet seems to be a two horse race between Overclockers.com and BOINC.BE.
And we're in a race for third against SETI.Germany.
Keep on crunching - our SETI RAC is on the increase at present, so it'd be nice to take 3rd, if we can...!
regards
Tim

Hi
First things first, as this is my first post here as a new team member. A big hello to everybody. :hello2:
Unfortunatly my first post is a bit negative and for that I appologise. Like everyone else I was looking forward to the start of the gauntlet. now it's started it seems the stat situation is a bit of a mess, in daily recording, presentation and number of eligable team members(no. of UBT members quoted here differs from the various stats presentations I've seen today.)
my main concern regarding this is that without accurate and well presented stats kept thoughout, the possibility of some form of dispute over the outcome may arise at the end.
Having said all this I should add that I have nothing but admiration and gratitude for those who have freely given their time and skill to compiling the stats. I would just ask for a greater degree of clarity possibley even simplicity.

The problem is that one of the two SETI@NL admins has disappeared, and it was this guy (FilmFreak) who was doing the stats....Unfortunatly my first post is a bit negative and for that I appologise. Nett result - the stats, (hosted on this guys own server) cannot be modified, changed or altered....

Which left the other guy (XP_Freak/aka SET@Netherlands) trying to keep it going.
If you check our forum, you'll see that he has apologised for this.....obviously, certain things are outside his control.
HOWEVER:
It seems that John who runs the BOINC Team leaders forum and Dutch Power Cows have both set up stats to enable everyone to check their situation.
And of course we are all grateful to them for giving positive assistance - and hence why I've created this posting so that we can all benefit from their hard work.
It is a great shame that sometimes things go wrong.....however, the Gauntlet is continuing and by the end of next week, we can all see how well we've done.
Of course, lessons may be learned from this.....but it also shows that the BOINC community does pull together and helps to turn it around.
regards

Yup - I think this cruncher was saving up work and then uploading it all at once, so that the entire kaboodle counted within the Gauntlet time-frame....mickyb69 wrote:Anyone seen this ? http://boincstats.com/stats/user_graph. ... h&id=31464
If its a team tactic 2nd place may still be up for grabs
I doubt he can sustain that level for two weeks...!

Hi Gary,Gary wrote:So how are we doing ?
We seem to be in 3rd place.....
But sadly, I doubt we'll catch up with Overclockers.com and BOINC.BE.
Still, 3rd place out of 14th isn't bad !!
And with one week to go, we might catch up a bit....but we need some serious efforts to have any chance at all of making 2nd or even 1st place ....and I think we're already near to maximum...
Check the first posting in the Gauntlet stats thread...the Dutch Power Cows stats seem to be the most interesting...but you'll need to scroll to the bottom of the page for the latest graphics and stats.
BTW: I think the 2 million+ credits we've contributed to the Gauntlet is INCORRECT - think their stats have gone wrong somehow. Mind you, am happy we APPEAR to be in 1st place for a day or two (until they can correct it).

You can sort them the way you want yourself.
Your team has become so big because missing members have been added.
And because they don't have starting credits yet, their total credits are now added to the gauntlet production.
You understand that that has to be corrected still. :P

Not everything is in order yet, but Elteor is working on it as we speak.Hi,
Thanks for making a great effort on your DPC Gauntlet stats pages.
I think your DB crash has had a great effect for UK BOINC Team position, as we now seem to be in 1st place overall with over 2 million credits on the Gauntlet.

But I KNOW this is wrong.....so hope you can fix it soon.

Thanks for your kind reply.
I know that not everything has gone too well over the last week or two, and I'm glad you now have good help to assist you.
I am sure that everyone on UBT is very grateful to you and your helpers for making this "happen"...
Maybe next time, the UBT recruitment won't cause you so many problems

Flippin' 'eck - I bet Willy isn't too happy about that! Wouldn't be so bad if the images were stored elsewhere and brought up from another server but it seems that everyone gets their own copy every time. I was in touch with Willy some time back and, at that time, he wasn't too displeased about the graphics being served up on other sites.
What he wasn't so keen on was stats "scraping"...
Time has moved on and it's possible that he won't be pleased now. But from my point of view, the page I created will only be live for 1 more week and then I'll copy the final stats and create a league table for posterity.

We are trying to repair, but it will not be before Thursday.

Pity we've dropped off the radar somewhat so...
C'mon 'Paddys and Ireland!' You can do it!

Hi all,
Just a quick summary of the overall stats (based on Elteors table):
At the start of the Gauntlet, the total number of credits amassed by the 362 participants (up to that point) was just over: 160,000,000 credits (depending on which stats you check.....!)
In just 14 days of crunching, the same 362 participants earned between 16,473,000 and 18,198,888 credits....(again depending on the source of the stats !)
In other words, the combined crunching power INCREASED our total combined credits by over 10%....
In TWO WEEKS....(even though the SETI@home BOINC project has been going for 3+ years....).
Not bad...not bad at all....!
regards
Tim

Well guy's - are we interested?
This has been posted for a month so I think we should at least say something! It's been a while since we actually did anything and I reckon we need to do something so as to distract us from losing UK#1 spot!
Please have a look at the site and let's have some feedback and see if there is enough interest from us to participate!

I think we just need participation of any sort! I'm not anywhere near 24/7 anymore (more like 2.4/7 at the moment!) but I'll switch over if there's enough interest.Darren wrote:I'm up for a go at this, but I don't crunch 24/7, so you might need to consider me as a sub!
I'd like to see 10-20 to justify an entry. We're flying at 3 so far!

There are only 7 days left to make UK BOINC a winning team.
So come on and present your team in the forum of SETI@Nethrlands.

Crunchers that like to join the team of UK BOINC should post their S@H accountname and user-ID in this thread.
The user-ID can be found on http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/home.php

I have created a Gauntlet team for you, with Melter65 as teamcaptain.
Your team has now 3 members.
Everyone that want to join has to post his S@H-name and S@H-userID in this thread.
Hurry, because there are only 5 days left to join.
