WCGs mission is to create the largest public computing grid benefiting humanity. You can choose from various work units to crunch: Fight AIDS, cure Cancer or support the Human Proteome Folding projects amongst many. (Previously supported by IBM).
Last december, our team launched the "christmas race" at world community grid. With more than 100 active teams, this competition became much more successfull than we had ever thought before. Nevertheless, many teams were not able to join the race because of different reasons (ongoing matches against other teams, problems contacting an inactive team-captain and so on).
Christmas is gone and with easter ahead of us, we decided to take this opportunity and again launch a competition: the bunny race. It will take place at WCG from March 1st to March 23rd (easter monday).
You are cordially invited to join us on this competition!
The bigger the team, the better their their computers are when we Boinc em on the the head and run off with them....
I got some more nicorette patches from the chemist yesterday.
but I don't think they sell TSP patches, And NaRyan wuvs his TSP
Although with Micky talking about scratching I think he might have fleas.
So it could be a laugh to join in and though Micky amounst the other teams and watch them run about in a blind panic
Oops - forgot completely about this! I've set everything except WCG to 'no new tasks', so it'll start picking up in a day or so.
:bunny: :bunny: :bunny: :bunny: :bunny: :bunny:
The impossible we do today; miracles take a little longer
Yup moi remembered
And yeah some of these workunits are long
The drug related one seems to be the quickest (42mins and a 1 hour one), and the Proteome folding one is the longest (one took 19 hours, on my sempron 2800+)
DDD are the quickest ones ,You can select what you want to run on the project profile page .
I now have 4 chips running WCG so should do about 600 credits a day
Boinc can be a bit thick at times.
If it's the 1st time you have run the project (on that boinc install), it can get a bit mixed up with it's times, you can set to 1 day, but with Boinc's working out of how long stuff is going to take, those 4 hours (cpu time), after Boinc's working out can look like 27 hours (wall clock time)
So boinc thinks 4 = 27, cache = 24, 27-24=3, Boinc don't ask for work for another 3 hours (to keep 24 hours of work...)
It gets a bit smarter after a few days.
And of course Boinc being Boinc it can get that in reverse and send you 27 hours work, when you only wanted 4, or in your laptops case 8 days instead of 3
There is work ok, as I just got a load of Drug and cancer ones
I just got a cancer wu on me p3 800 40 hrs ffs
I got my amd xp2000 working today (new 350w psu from ebay £2.99)
Seems faster than my intel chips,Early days yet claimed 45 credits for 5 hrs but still pending .
Probs cuss the credits for nice chips is cack .so i don't bother
Looks like me 3 gig p4's do best on cosmology and the x64 does great on ABC
WCG credits are poor.
Weird way of doing it too.
Boinc credits are *7, just to make them equal to the UD prog, err ok
I wonder what would happen to all these "punnish the slow" projects, if all the peeps that owned "slow" pc's left em.
Probably wave bye bye to 75% of their peeps
11 million toy town credits ? Or are they real boinc ???
Just had a look yeh they are silly WCG points so 1.5 mill aint that good for 6000 japs

You`re right about WCG toy town points Micky.
1 BOINC credit is worth 7 WCG points.
It is like that sometimes (as with certain family members i know) but give it a month or 2 and you should start being able to hold your breath for 30 seconds  And hopefully get over the colds etc

ROFL so many times I have heard that!!
Funny thing at work at the mo - me and my mate both eat healthy cereal breakfasts, none of the others do, yet we are both ill at the moment.
Blow being healthy - I'm gonna just do what I like when I like and enjoy life!!
