Is it me

As the heading says is it me or am i going totally mad!? Tell ya what don't answer that bit .
Just put a new hard drive SATA 160gig Maxtor in my system it's all plugged in etc it's there in the bios, when XP boots up it says found new hardware etc, in device manager there it is all working properly.
So why on earth can't i see the blasted thing in my computer all it shows is the little 20gb ide and the cd/dvd drive????  :roll:

Its probably just not formatted.
Try Control Panel/Administrative Tools/ Computer Management
then click on Disk Management
it should show your new disk as unformatted, just right click and select format
