Ever wondered: why you don't crunch as much?

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all,

It's something I've always wondered about - why does my crunching ability appear to slow down with respect to time....

I'm sure my daily RAC used to be higher - indeed I can recall having a RAC in the 1000-2000 range....

Now the research has been done and it's all true - your CPU DOES slow down !

read and weep....

Now I really am gonna have to upgrade....

regards,

Tim

As processors are clocked higher, so their transistors move more quickly, altering their apparent speed when measured by benchmarkers in a state frame of reference.
Darn - my CSE grade 1 is also all messed up!

I thought it was them pesky electrons that did the moving about now, I find that it was transistors all along. Makes sense I suppose. More transistors in a smaller area - they gotta be bumping into each other all the time so they'll wear out.
