WCGs mission is to create the largest public computing grid benefiting humanity. You can choose from various work units to crunch: Fight AIDS, cure Cancer or support the Human Proteome Folding projects amongst many. (Previously supported by IBM).
I signed up today for WCG and once I had a few wu's running noticed it was a real RAM hog, is this the norm? on one system its using around 100Mbs and on another around 170Mbs
Short answer.....yeah but no but yeah but... it depends which of the WCG projects you choose to run, help defeat cancer is one of the big ones but there are tiddlers on there as well
