Thanks fellas. just using big machine now. leccy bill came in for 8 weeks £331. nearly had a kitten. i didn't think those 1080s use that much electric. having said that i did wonder why my washing dried so quickly in my computer room.

I know your pain (on the leccy bill) as I was running some quite inefficient Bitcoin miners a couple of years back (for another BOINC project) and my bill rose significantly too...
But GPU's do rather consume quite a bit of leccy, although they are getting better, with more cores these days (compared to previous versions), but a similar or slightly lower power consumption.
Even so, if you have a few of them, it can all mount up
I do wonder about the many BOINC members who have tens of machines, running BOINC - they might be able to generate many thousands of credits per day, but the bills they face must be pretty high.

next beeeeellllion will be a LOT slower
