I had a look at the first page of this thread, just to check on the rules...
I was surprised to see that it's been running for over 10 years, and I was the second poster!

I must point out though that it's got a much better class of posters just recently

There were a few folk joining in back then, I think it was a while before I contributed again. Mind you, I was still a worker back in those days!Woodles wrote:Ah, so we're the interlopers!Jeffers wrote:I had a look at the first page of this thread, just to check on the rules...

It certainly died down a bit, up until you joined in it was basically Keith and me with a very occasional visit from Tim!Jeffers wrote:There were a few folk joining in back then, I think it was a while before I contributed again. Mind you, I was still a worker back in those days!

Tim claims to be too busy working, I think our knowledge of weird and wonderful swords scared him off

Just like your football team, then - 'aiming for' but not quite succeeding

Re: Word Association
I think your board are aiming for the most managers in a season - wonder if they know they don't get a prize for that!

Re: Word Association
Heckingbottom is not exactly popular in Barnsley - having only signed a new contract 5 days ago!! Still, whether it's chairmen, managers or players there's no loyalty these days!

Re: Word Association
There was a release clause so someone was expecting to leave quickly. Wonder if he got a bonus for re-signing at Barnsley? It's all very mercenary now

Towards the end of the game last Saturday there were the inevitable chants of "You're getting sacked in the morning", which is normally reserved for the manager of teams heading towards relegation ....

A second chance ? To be hoped your next game doesn't involve a trip to Wolves, then!

Oh that's just the normal end-of-match chant

Nope, an easy match at home to Bristol City

Re: Word Association
What about Halifax? I'm sure I hear some shouting and such from the Shay down the road every so often. I'm told they're playing some quaint old game called "foot-ball". Don't think it'll catch on, personally.....Woodles wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2018 8:48 amI'm pretty sure there's more than ONE team in Yorkshire, there's Leeds andhgblade wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2018 5:37 pmI'm sure I've been hearing that from our near(er) neighbours.

Re: Word Association
After a stressful day working (honestly
) we tend to watch Pointless whilst having tea. Here's a small excerpt from last Thursday, summarised:
Alexander Armstrong: "We're looking for the names of Premier League managers for the season 2015/2016"
Contestant: "I don't know anything about football so I'm going to have to make up a name. I'll say 'Robin Smith' "
AA: "I'm afraid that's an incorrect answer and scores 100 points. Richard ..."
Richard Osman: "Yes, nobody of that name has ever managed in the Premier League. I do believe a Robin Smith has managed Leeds United, though. But then, so has just about everybody else!"
Pipe>>>Err
