Just for your reference, the three "good crunching days" in May 2006 (shown above) were due to the 3rd Weekend Crunch, which took place over the weekend of 27th-28th May.

So, we've proved that the Crunch can have a positive effect - let's see if we can break the record this time...!

Bumping this on World AIDS Day. 1st post shows a nice contribution boost during our crunch.
WCG has also been moving up my own personal totals board.

Hi all,
We've got just over 6 hours to go, until the end of the
WCG Crunch Week....and it's been good to see so many members taking part.
http://www.boincstats.com/stats/user_st ... ate=&or=10
Looking at the BOINCstats report (link above), 45 members have contributed credits to WCG during the last week,
8 of whom are new members.
And of these 8 "newbies" to the Team, the
top 3 crunchers for the week were all NEW members....
So, congrats to
Semmy, UBT-Timby and UBT - Gary - you deserve a medal.....!
Remember to ensure you update your BOINC client sometime before midnight, so that your most valued contributions are uploaded and can be counted in the overnight project update !!
regards
Tim

A few other positive notes...
Best 5 days has changed to 5 days over the last week.
Highest EVER position has been achieved (107).
Got to 100 members in the project with 93 contributing (which, as a percentage, is terrific!).

A bit of a relay here - we're having a month-long crunch of WCG starting from the 1st Dec, just as you're finishing off, so helping to sustain your good work if you look at it that way
It'd be quite fun to set up a joint-crunch one month with both our teams (well, we sort-of did it with SAP. That's where we picked up the idea of doing a regular crunch, since it seems to work so well with your team)

A month long crunch?
Wow!
Hope it goes well for you.

Hi Mike,
It's no problem you guys using the idea of the crunch....in fact I'm rather glad and flattered
, coz (Ive found that) it really does help to bond the Team "together" and it helps to achieve "great things" either in terms of:
- helping a specific project (such as we've just done on WCG) or
- (from a team perpective) giving the rankings a boost (either coz we might get overtaken, or coz we might get past another team...
)
As for getting together and doing a "joint Team crunch" -
that's an excellent idea.
We tend to "do" crunches around once a month or so, and we aim to do them for various reasons - the WCG one was inspired by World AIDS day (with thanks to Halifax for suggesting it!).
Projects can be suggested (for a crunch) by any Team member - it's then just a question of "is it workable" and "will the project be able to keep supplying WU's for the duration of the crunch" (mostly we do weekends or the odd "full week"). Also, it helps if the project is fully open to new members joining up...
So, if you can generate some interest with the BS team, then maybe we can do something as a New Year Crunch to get into 2007 with a "bang" - and then we can really produce a great deal of credits for the nominated project. Only trouble might be agreeing with all the members as to which is the "worthy cause" this time around.
I'm happy to set up a "poll" on this forum that BS members can vote for specific projects to crunch for (although they'd have to become members of our forum - as there's no point having a "joint crunch" on two different projects !!) - and then we can all "go with the majority" vote.
And just think.
If we can actually get a goodly percentage of each team's members to crunch, then who knows - maybe other teams might be interested - it's all voluntary after all.......
regards

Hi Tim and formites, thanks for posting those stats, no medal required here thanks but I should enquire as to the latest status of the Hob Nob supplies
Seriously though it was great to get involved in a crunch week although I will get back to the other projects but will investigate the others now I have found the links page.
I would also like to congratulate Semmy on his awsome total, very impressive.
Anyone got suggestions as to which may be the most needy?
Regards
Timby

WCG stats are now dropping back to normal so we can assume most if not all WU's done during the crunch have been validated.
Top post shows how the crunch affected the overall stats.

Yup - a very useful credits contribution has been made to this project and the Team is in a healthier position (ranking wise) compared to before, so a WIN-WIN situation for all concerned.
Hopefully, as the Team continues to ramp up it's membership, we can ensure that all the "live" projects continue to benefit from the long crunching hours that are being put in.

You guys will laugh - the current front-runner for Synergy's January project-of-the-month (after WCG as December) is... WCG !
The general consensus seems to be that a month isn't enough (Rosetta, Nov's project, we did for 6 weeks)
The big difference seems to be that only a few of our team are involved with the POTM, whereas you seem to be able to get a large % of your team working on it.

Ah well.....you see....the reason is quite simple....I just bribe people with McVities Plain Chocolate Hobnobs....and then don't send them any.......
Get's them crunching every time......and best thing is...we do another crunch, and they do that as well.....
