Well done that man! Cor... If only my machine went 24/7  :D

I think your 1M will be within your grasp very soon with the GPU now running alongside  8)

Why not go on BOINCstats on your personal detailed stats, and set the target at 1M?
It will give you a date when you should hit the big one, and will update daily.

heh ..maybe not gona be hitting that mil so fast .. blew a psu a week or so back ( 600 w ), can only assume it was running both cores and the gpu at the same time, might be a coincidence  ..

New psu in now, and I'll run the dual core and no gpu for now ..

Think you got unlucky there fellie!

I'm using a 480W PSU and i'm running a:
Quad @ 2.4Ghz
8800GT - OC'd slightly
2 x CD/DVD-Rom
Hard Drive
2 x Fans

Hope to see you back on GPU Grid soon! I'm going to re-take my place again! Woohoo

hmm.. dodgy Psu perhaps then ..

I've put an OCZ Stealth X stream 600w in.. £10 off at Aria, £60 all in posted :)

The one that was in was a £25 job

I'll fire GpuGrid up, see how it goes :P

You ever had all 4 cores and gpu grid at 100% Ben ??

2 fans lol, I have a 120 on the psu ( standard fit ), 2x 90mm akasa on the 8800gt cooling a massive passive heatpipe grille / radiator, and an akasa 80 pushing air in with another pulling it out :P

I had a dabs value PSU and it was only £21.48 inc VAT! Ironic eh
fellie wrote:You ever had all 4 cores and gpu grid at 100% Ben ??
 How could you ask such a question!? :P Not quite 100%, i tend to stick it on 90% on BOINC to make the system a bit more responsive and it works very nicely :)

As for fans, i have a fan stuck inside the PSU and 2 big fans on the front/back illuminated!  :D Oooo pretty colours!

hmmm ironic maybe isn't the word, think I'd junk it personally, or keep it as a spare after fitting a decent one :P

Remember my pc has been on 24/7 for over a year with boinc hammering the dual core at 100%  :D

I have both cores and gpu at 100%, I can email, browse with streaming radio etc no issues, I only exit Boinc for gaming nowadays :)

lol very true, student budget for you  "One day" i will consider getting a better one, but for now it will have to do (i can see this being famous last words!) But amusing seeing as some people have spent alot of money on PSU's and seeing them break and yet i only paid that pitiful amount and it still works. Sods law at it's best! Your not the only one who had a good PSU break fairly early as i have seen over various forums which i am a member of.

Good man! Can't have you lowering the pace now

Me too, gaming is the only thing that stops BOINC. But i just prefer to give the 10% cooling time   The regulars on MSN will know how hot the beasty gets (probably relating back to the PSU)

Aye the 10% for cooling makes sense, does it run cooler with 3 cores at 100% ??

I use rightmark, or core temp 0.96.1 to show running temps.

The Gpu fans, I have dropped the temp no end using a rad / grille passive cooler with 2 fans in comparison to the stock cooler :)
42 degrees C idle, 55 maxxed with gpu grid :)

I actually don't know if it makes a difference or not (it's all in the head)
But i like to think it does make some kind of difference + not using as much power. I have yet to try changing the GPU cooler, and not seen how hot it gets. I will have to have a scout around for some programs to tell me.

rivatuner gives you gpu temps, took me a while to sus it out tho :P

Rightmark says my Cpu is at 36, core temp 0.99.4 says 47/45

I've done it at long last! I have now reached 500,153 on 16/03/2009 @ 22:00!  :D

Took a while, but now flying with thanks to the ATI card running MW!
Year 07-08 = 200k
Year 08-09 so far = 500k
