Has anyone tried the beta release of FireFox yet :?: When its released as the live product I may try it as 1.5 never seemed to work for me.

Firefox RC2
FireFox 2 Release Candidate 2 (RC 2) is a preview release of our next generation FireFox browser and is being made available for download to Web application developers, our testing community and users who want to get a sneak peek at the next version of FireFox. Please note that at this time, users should not expect all of their extensions, plug-ins and themes from previous versions of FireFox to work properly

Okay - now you've done it! Bags me break it first!

[Edit]

Wow - that's quick! None of the faffing about you get with IE. All done and dusted in a couple of minutes.

Nicer toolbars and you get a 'close tab' on each tab instead of just one on the end. No probs so far and not expecting any!

Can't download it
Thanks for your interest in the Firefox 2 Release Candidate preview release.
Sadly, we're not quite ready to hand it out yet. Links to official builds will be posted by 5PM PDT, October 16th. See you then!
What time is 5pm PDT then in our time :?:

PDT = Pacific so that's 8 hours behind (I think). You gonna be up at 1AM?

FF2 is still working fine - no probs at all.

I've had that since forever with the 'Tab Mix Plus' extension :D One of the only 3 extensions I could be bothered to add (along with FasterFox and IE Tab [opens a tab in Firefox, but it is just IE open in that tab, very clever!]), even though all you have to do is click a button and it installs

Hmmn, I'm not sure I like that.
Mysql Query Browser has a close button on each tab and I've found it very easy to accidently click the close button when the intention was to select the tab.
Probably just me  :(
forefox rules tho

With Tab Mix Plus, you just click the middle wheel button to unclose tabs you've closed. I did it now and 5 tabs unclosed with full history included so I can click back 5 pages in the tab I closed 4 tabs ago :D

So what happens to the 'scroll' function that some users (me) have? I assume you can't have both running so you'd have to have one or the other. I'd prefer the scroll and just use 'history' to reopen.

That still works. You middle click on the tab bar area to unclose the tabs ;)

They really have thought of everything on Tab Mix Plus  :D

Too right
I've just installed the extension and at 1st look it seems really good.
And what with me accidently closing tabs, being able to bring em back is cool.
Nice one

Just installed Firefox 2.0.0.2

Also installed the British English dictionary extension.

Don't know if it was available before but there's no excuse for spelig misteaks now as wrongly spelt words get a red underline! Strangely enough 'Firefox' isn't in the dictionary.

Hi Mike,

That's kewl...'cept that Firefox is already up to v2.0.0.7 !!

The British dictionary is very useful - helps me a lot....esp. on this forum !!

Trouble is - I'm not sure if/how you can add extra words to the dikshonary...just in case it doesn't recognise specific worms like BOINC.

regards

Tim

Highlight the word, then right click and select Add To dictionary

Eek !  What happened there....? Somehow the new posting (to this thread) for today about Firefox got assigned to a link to your earlier posting.....

How very strange....?

Sorry 'bout that.

It's either me or some spooks have got into the machine

Hi John,

Now why oh why didn't I think of that ?????

But note, it only works if the word is not in the dictionary already (which sort of makes sense !!).

regards,

Tim

Hi gary  , if you click on Bookmarks you will see " Get bookmark add ons "
You might find something in there, Had a quick look and theres "smart bookmark bar "
INFO ....
Not enough place on your bookmarks bar ?... Smart Bookmarks Bar extension comes right here by hiding bookmarks names and only showing icons. Bookmark names will be displayed on mouse over.

Hope it helps , mick

Hi Mick, yeah thanks I did find that one, the bookmarks I have in the toolbar are RRS feeds so all I see is the red square    I'm sure I've seen more than one row of bookmark in a firefox browser so there must be a multi row add-on somewhere.
