So, the second thing I found out today, is that a compnay called Descartes Labs, has rented some space on AWS...and found they achieved 136th place in the recent Top 500 supercomputers in the World, renting for $5,000 (charged to their company credit card):
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/06/2 ... puter_aws/The AWS "supercomputer" has 41,472 cores, 157,824 GB RAM, and achieved 1,926.4 TFlop/s using the LINPACK benchmark, which solves a dense system of linear equations.
So, if any members want to donate some $$$$, I'm happy to rent some AWS space and see if we can boost the UBT credits for a while
(No mention was made as to how long the $5,000 lasted for - maybe a week or a month ??).
