Advice on backing up

Post by Martle »

I'm reading everywhere that it's good practise to do regular backups. I can't seem to find anything for someone running several projects on Boinc and just needing to backup BBC CCE.

Do I back up the BBC CCE folder and all files in the sub folders within Boinc?

Ta muchly.  :?

Back up everything (i.e., c:\program files\boinc), when boinc is turned off.

If you need to restore, the easiest way to do this is to 'no more work' on all the projects, wait for them to return their results, then restore the backup once all work is done.  Cancel the work units for the other projects, and hey presto...

There is also a more sophisticated way of doing it involving editing the XML files (RRoday has written instructions on the BBC/CCE website).

Thanx for that. I keep reading scary reports of the BBC just laying down and dying after months of crunching and having to start again. :?
