DENIS@home is BACK !

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all

After a long time, the DENIS@home project has restarted... :-D

More info here:

https://denis.usj.es/denisathome/forum_ ... d=197#1553

Note: The first 999 tasks have already been downloaded, but once these are "confirmed" then another 40,000 simulations will be made available.

So, keep an eye on the staus page here:

https://denis.usj.es/denisathome/server_status.php

(or just "Allow new tasks" within BOINC Manager ;-) ).

If you haven't added it in BOINC Manager, then here's the project URL:

Code: Select all

https://denis.usj.es/denisathome/
Note: You do need to agree to their new terms, before you can access your old account or tos et up a new one. My old account was still accessible, so if you had an old account, I hope you remembered your password !!

PLUS you also need to go to your Preferences and tick the box that says:

"Do you consent to exporting your data to BOINC statistics aggregation Web sites?"

Hi Carl

Nice !!

I missed out on the 1st phase - and I got 162 from the 2nd phase - with 2 hosts now crunching Denis tasks. :-)

If this phase proves to be successful, then the admins reckon it won't be in Beta any more and they can start releasing more tasks:

https://denis.usj.es/en_US/news/second- ... plicacion/

The credits are not huge - around 40-43 credits each based on a run time (on my hosts) of between 5,600-7,000 seconds each.

It all helps, in the big scheme of things :-)

And I am SO CLOSE to the 300K credits "Golden heart" badge ;-) but I'm a long way away from the "Everest" badge (for 885K credits).

Hi Carl,

Hope you are well.

Yup - I'm on it...got me a few tasks now...and slowly crunching through them...they are quite short on my hosts - taking 7,000-8,000 seconds each and between 40 and 50 credits per task.

Denis just started up again after the winter break. These are beta tasks for now. Get your beta tester badge if you don't already have it. Don't forget to set your preferences to receive beta tasks.

Hi Carl

Thanks for the heads-up.

I've had a few tasks already since it restarted...and they seem to be fairly CPU-friendly, and do not take too long to crunch.
