Hi all
It completely escaped me that 16 years and 1 week ago, UBT was formed.
I'm not sure why I forgot...maybe the ol' brain cells are slowly dieing off?
So, I thought I'd post this as a reminder so that in future years, it'll be easier to "find".
Needless to say a lot has happened in the interim...some members have simply "gone away", some have "passed" and some "pop back in" once in a while...but we're still here, crunching away, and doing "our bit".
I would hope that BOINC continues for a while...and there do seem to be a few new projects coming along, even if some of the older projects have run their course and gone into retirement or just entered a "stasis" period.
I do have to wonder as to whether "cloud computing" is the way forward for "serious" projects, rather than using "volunteer members" who moan and groan constantly about "outages, credits, and optimised apps".
We shall see
In the mentime, feel free to quaff a nice beverage, enjoy the sunshine, stay safe and NEXT year, we'll be another year older !!
best regards to all past, present and future UBT members
Tim
Edit: Well, I cocked that up royally...and I did sense I'd worked it out incorrectly earlier...but anyways, it was the teams 15th birthday LAST year:
