Are they having a laugh. the two cards i bought for £610 are now £999. I can buy an Inno 2080ti for that money. Is this just a supply and demand thing or are they trying to get everyone on the RTX bandwagon?

Hi Neil

That's shocking...!!

I guess NVidia are trying to generate profits based on the "Apple" methology - make something that lots of people want and charge as much as you like for it, as the brainless morons will just lap it up...!!

And of course this will just inflate the second user prices too.

In the meantime, AMD are quietly upgrading some of their products and once again proving they can make a great alternative. (Not that I've used any of their products for a while now, since I had so many issues with their Catalyst display drivers).

regards
Tim

Ouch that's pricey. To be honest IT prices across the board have got silly recently - GPUs seem to have massively spiked in price in the last couple of years. I remember when the top end cards (excluding TESLA/Quadro) were no higher than £650 or so...its just bonkers that you can spend £1500 on one now.

Processor and motherboard prices are higher than they used to be and the decent DDR4 RAM is still overpriced. The only good news is SSD and hard disk prices have crashed recently.

Hi Jeff,

I think it's manufactures getting wise to the fact that people aren't jumping on the 20xx series and realising theres still a lot of demand for the top end 10xx cards.

nice relisted evga 1080ti on ebay this morning. a few watchers and a bid of £105. I thought I will stick £250 on it and see how that goes. 4 days to go and usually a big jump like that lasts a day or two. boy was I wrong. 10 minutes later £255 and the usual email saying you've been outbid!! don't know why it was relisted, probably didn't make the £900 reserve :-)

You can get them much cheaper than £900. I don't think I'd want to spend £900 on a used card anyway - a new 2080 can be purchased for a much lower price than this.

The 1080ti just seems to be getting dearer.

why would you pay 1199 when you can get a next gen 2080ti for 999
