Windows 10 ?

Having problems installing that new stick of memory? Found some great software or having issues with something? Or maybe want to chat about your PlayStation, X-Box, Nintendo, Sega, even your old Spectrum 48k....! Or maybe something you want to sell or acquire (computing related of course!). Let us know here...

Windows 10 ?

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all,

OK - so who has jumped on board the Win 10 bandwagon straight away?

I certainly hope you don't have:
a) A NVidia graphics card - as it seems that Win Update and NVidia Updates have some sort of issue and it borks your PC:

b) More than 512 apps on your Start menu...as it seems this also confuses Win 10:

So, if you haven't upgraded to Win 10, I'd wait a while (say a month or two) and wait for the dust to settle, by which time it might be usable !!

regards
Tim
(still running Win XP Pro and 2x Win 7 x64...and trying to get Ubuntu 14.04LTS to work with BOINC)

Not me, I'm sticking with XP Pro, best version of Windows ever!

Well, I have always missed out alternative Windows before so still on version 7.

Windows 10 is my next version and I'm just doing a system image now followed by a new system repair disc. As the image is being transfered via USB this is gonna take a few hours! (My next sytem will have all the discs inside the PC rather than the caddy!)

Then I'll have to find out where Minesweeper has gone! :-)

Well - that was quite painless! Took 2 hours from start to finish but that was probably cos I have an old system. First impressions are good - most things are fairly easy to find - (apart from Minesweeper).

Only had a quick check out of 'Edge' - it seems quicker though I've lost all the bookmarks in the changeover.

I thought media Player had been ditched? Still there on this system though it's having to find the music all over again.

Everything seems to work - BOINC had no problems either. The only extra update I've had to do was an update for the video drivers.

Overall quite happy at the mo!

Hi Mikee,

You make it all sound quite painless, I might have to bite the bullet and give it a try after all.
