Happy 15th Anniversary SETI@home

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all,

I can recall being in Florida, USA in late May 1999, attending a computer in Melbourne (not far from Cape Canaveral) and seeing a demonstration of the original SETI@home application.....running on a Windows PC...and this is long before BOINC ;)

I was enthralled at seeing the screensaver crunching real-world data, and promised myself I'd download the application and start crunching.

It's now 15 years later and SETI is 15 years old... :)

Wow - 15 years!

I can never remember when I started such things, but with the power of email archives I see that I got my SETI password in May 2001.

I also see that the links to my certificates for completing 250 and 500 work units no longer exist :(
