Something wierd happened - not only everyone lost their credits on the stats pages but all the teams have gone. Probably just a tempory glitch but it explains why we lost 240,000 this morning!

I attached to LHC@home last week but after 3 days I still hadn't received a WU so I detached and I'll stick with the 6 BOINC projects I'm running at tne moment until the Collider is operational and there are enough WUs to go around.

As you can see from the stats pages, the project is very intermittent with the work    http://boincstats.com/stats/project_graph.php?pr=lhc

because it is a project i like i tend to stay connected and put it  at a high score so that if any wus become available I have a good chance of getting some. Otherwise i just automatically crunch other projects (rosetta at the moment of course  )

47,685 Wu's ready to send some test are been done on the WU's and hopefully will be released very soon :!:

Just tried re-attaching in readiness - no go. It seems account creation is off as well - maybe because the servers are offline.

I wonder if 'OcUK - Overclockers UK' and 'GRIDPP' realise that it's coming back? We're No. 3 UK, 44 in World. Might we be able to sneak up on them?

Ah! Nice to see it's back soon. Will up its share so I may get some WUs.

I'm still waitin for them to finish the change-over and pass out new WU's

All I get is this ->

2006-09-20 00:51:28 [LHC@home] Sending scheduler request to http://lhcathome-sched1.cern.ch/scheduler/cgi
2006-09-20 00:51:28 [LHC@home] Reason: Requested by user

2006-09-20 00:51:29 [---] Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.
2006-09-20 00:51:33 [LHC@home] Scheduler request failed: couldn't resolve host name
2006-09-20 00:51:33 [LHC@home] Deferring scheduler requests for 2 minutes and 25 seconds

looks like Boinc is accessing the right site though ?

NO - It was broke before I got to it!

Much as I enjoy my reputation for breaking things, I can't take the credit for this one!

Tis said they'll fix the upload tomorrow. I've got a load on the office machine.

Is it just me showing my age, or are the WUs looking smaller this time round?

Would be nice if they got the XML stats working again and I got credit for contributing...

Looks like we are close to taking the UK #2 spot.

Code: Select all

1. OcUK	2,052,414.96  	 450.00
2. GRIDPP	252,736.60    	68.64
3. UBT 249,097.73   	525.43

Hi all.
Here is a few observations i have made regarding LHC.

I know there is an issue with LHC and their XML export for the stats but -
Temujins site is showing the correct amount of credit for me or at least it matches what boinc manager is telling me.
See here http://ubt-seti.dyndns.org/ubt/SC.php

BOINCstats on the other hand is showing that there has been no credit for months now.
http://www.boincstats.com/stats/team_gr ... lhc&id=199

Also had the issue where i was getting assinged a new computer id everytime i tried for work, this i solved in the usual way, but after doing so my host total is showing 0.
Average credit is working fine though.

As of now, we are only 450 credits short of GridPP.

      GridPP    253,074
      UBT        252,624

But by the time I saw that LHC had some WU's they had all gone

Hopefuly some other team members got some, so we can make up the deficit...!

Cool. Just got 26 of what are 2 hr work units for me.
Suspended all other projects to see if i may be able to catch a few more off these W/U later.
But my guess is they will be gone very soon.
In which case its back to WCG crunching.

Hmmm... Got about a thousand credits worth on here but the stats aren't showing up on either the sigs or stats pages (but they are in BOINC Mgr).
Any suggestions?

Just make sure that your username and email address are the same.

Also, sometimes it can be an issue with the project site's XML files that are exported - with LHC, they might not have updated their user list recently or the XML might be "out of date".

Edit - I just looked here:

http://www.boincsynergy.com/stats/teams ... roject=lhc

and the site says:

BOINC XML Data last updated: Tue 05 Sep 02:36:47 2006 GMT (84.50 days ago)

so, there you go.

From LHC website

"As you will have seen there were ~20,000 WUs up for grabs earlier today and they are now all gone. We hope everyone got some as they were around for a few hours, this is hopefully (but no guarantees) the start of similar batches appearing more regularly."

BOINC.BE got 290,672 credits in this and retook 30th place. Which is a bit of a bu**er as their RAC is very similar to ours.

How come they get so many credits in 1 day then?

Posted: Thu Aug 09, 2007 9:19 pm
by UBT-mark3346
It is credit from the Belgian MoOo Farm, they united some time ago but still have over a million credits to transfer if they can get the projects to do it.

Looks like things are getting moving over there--From the LHC website

"LHC@home moved to the UK a few months ago, and despite a few initial teething problems, the scientists are very happy with the service being provided by us and by you. There will be more work coming from SixTrack in the near future and until the LHC starts up sometime in 2008. Indeed, even after it turns on there will be a demand to keep modeling its behavior and comparing with reality.

We have also been in talks with two different groups involved in the LHC experiments about porting their work to BOINC so it can be run under the LHC@home banner. One you may have heard about is Garfield which has been in the pipeline for a while but is now very close to running on LHC@home (the more eagle-eyed volunteers will have seen it is installed and on the Applications page). The other is simulating particle collisions for the ATLAS experiment, one of the four major LHC experiments. This is a good deal more ambitious, and will probably take a while before it is released to volunteers, but we are getting a lot of interest from the CPU-hungry physicists at ATLAS for this.

All of these factors combined mean that we have decided to officially launch LHC@home in the UK today in a press release. We hope that this brings in some new volunteers and that you welcome them to the community. I know there are some issues to be addressed on the server and Alex and I are working hard on this, but we are happy that the most important aspect of the project is working, namely that jobs are getting processed and the scientists are getting their science done. Thanks to many of you for helping us learn how to manage a volunteer computing experiment, and looking forward to fun times ahead!

Thanks for sticking around,
Neasan."

I have LHC on my Boinc for a while now and no WU as yet, I removed it from my Boinc and tried to re-add it and it informed me that it could not connect to LHC.

Is there another way I can add it back on to Boinc?

There has been no work for LHC@Home for months. There is now Test4Theory in it`s place, but you will need to download a "virtual box", and apply for an invitation code.

Details can be seen here.

There is LHC work but you will probably need to detach and reattach to the project

September 16, 2011, 22:30 GMT
Added Server Status link from this page
Detach and attach again if you have problems
September 15, 2011, 15:30 GMT
Please detach from the project and attach again to the project URL on this page if you get scheduler errors. By mistake, a reference to our old server had been cached on the Boinc client side, and therefore it may be necessary to re-initialise clients following a server move at CERN. Sorry for this glitch.
