On that note... I'm not sure whether to enable HT on my work PC ( only just found the proxy settings  ).

I've tried searching, but my google-fu isn't letting me sort the wheat from the chaff.

Is it a simple yes/no situation?  Otherwise which is the forum to ponder this in?

Any other hints'n'tips gratefully received!

If it's a work PC make sure you have permission to operate BOINC on it first.

If that's OK then try it. If the PC slows noticably or too much for you to use then knock it off. Also keep an eye on the CPU temperature. I'm sure others will also be able to suggest things.

Hello Barrie, welcome to the team.

As for enabling HT on your PC, well I'm not too sure I can help, but if you get into difficulty post in the Hardware, Software and Gaming section and someone should be able to advise you.

Hellloooo and welcome sah  :D

Hyper threading can give that little bit of extra "umpffff" but personally i won't try it with the older P4 technology. It seems to work quite well on the new Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 though.  :D

Well, it's running a lot hotter with HT enabled, about 5C more I'd say ( not helped by the Dell cooling setup I'm sure, which is now a little noisy... ), so must be doing something...
