200k

Post by Ben »

Not the most significant milestone, but i'm rather proud as i managed to achieve my target for my first year of BOINC'ing! :D

I joined UKBT on 19th December last year and i have tonight past the target i was aiming for with a last minute push from a completed GPU Grid wu! Should only take me another 4 years to get that 1M

If I remember rightly, I had been crunching for about 18 months before I joined UBT. I contributed a massive 36,000 credits from my previous team!

It shows how computer speeds have gone up by leaps and bounds.

Just wait until I get my 16 CPU 10 GHz rig.

They have rather tight bottle caps on those shandy bottles..

Thanks all  :D If im crazy enough i might go for one of those new Intel Core i7's  8)

4 cores + hyperthreading on each core = 8 cores  :P

I'll race you to the 1 million mark!

Just passed the 200k line myself, look forward to seeing how much of boost CUDA processing is going to give me. I am aiming for 250k by the end of February.

We are 300 points apart at the moment, we will both be using CUDA apps.. I'll see you at the 250 marker

I'm just about to upgrade my oldest machine, a dual-core AMD, and was just going to put an Intel quad in it's place. Then a customer rang me at the weekend and asked if we could do some urgent work this week, and today has increased his requirements by 200%! My wife has now decided the unexpected windfall this will produce will cover the cost of a new washing machine and a new tumble dryer - but it will also cover the cost of an i7, instead of the Q9550!!   :D

Im liking the sound of these i7s :P

Congrats Ben, ( in all reality should have equalled me .. as Ive had 4 cores running 24/7 since Feb :D  )

The gpugrids will increase your output, Ive already had a day with 8000 points, previous best was about 2000 lol ..

( now, if i can get 2 wu and gpugrid to keep working simultaneously, I'd be much happier again )

Cuda is messing with my PC, getting strange graphical artifacts on the desktop, see here.
Might disable the cuda app if it continues, don't want to risk damaging my nice 9800GTX.

Ah your not the only one. Mine does that, and for the moment i have stopped doing SETI Beta until they sort it out. My display driver also crashes and i usually end up restarting to get rid of it.  :?

And now after seeing your score and computers i think I'll throw in the towel   4 cores vs 7.. Plus mine don't run full time  :(
