Single-user installation of Boinc to a Service installation

Post by Hopper »

Might as well finally post again after a couple of months of crunching ;)

Is there anyway to swap from Single-user installation of Boinc to a Service installation without having to reinstall?

I simply ask this due to being nearly over 1000 hours into a couple of CPDN work units with another 500 to go,  however my current set-up is due to change well before the expected 500 hours is up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

As long as you re-install into the same location, the climate models should continue running without interruption.  Don't detach when you uninstall, and don't delete any files, and you should be OK.  Might be a good idea to take a copy of the installation when boinc is shut down if you are worried (as a backup).

Many people move installations from one machine to another without any major issues, as long as the architecture / OS doesn't change this should be OK.

One of the CPDN readmes has a section near the bottom about moving installations.
