The Red Library DLV Project

Got a UBT team on there, takes up hardly any resources at all, all it really needs is a always on connection, just leave it running in the background or manually start & stop it, I just leave it running.

So someone come and join me don't want to be a loner here all on my own :(

Well it seemed quiet so I joined as well.

Found a few problem links whilst out for lunch as well.

We seem to be 19th at present. Anyone else want to sign up? We could get up to the top fairlt quickly if a few more joined.

We've gone up 2 places today (now 17th). The team above us are going like a bat out of hell and at present, without more crunchers we'll never catch them.

The team above that are stagnating. Hardly any recent credits. Although they've almost twice our points we CAN take them. More volunterrs please!!!

I thought as I had 50% of the crunching power (I've got 3 boxes running on this one)  I'd be quorate by myself. Forgot you as  the founder of the group there should have had the casting vote.

Promise I won't overtake you again!

Well you did have, but I've got another machine on the case now so it's only 43%, but still a majority!

By the way, Team MacOS X aren't too far ahead of us, and two of them haven't generated any results yet today, so we should be able to overtake them in a week or so at curent rates  :D  and by then we'll have probably overtaken Info Sharkz too, who only have one member!

Another plea for people to join our Team on this project, either keep it running 24/7 if you have a always on connection, or just load it up & let it run when your on the Net.

Runs alongside BOINC fine with no issues, uses a small amount of CPU resources so your timings on BOINC won't be affected

We're back down in 16th place again  :(

Team MacOS X have 9 active computers running it and we only have 8!

It's not a matter of how quick the machine is, it's down to how many machines you have running it.

Please everyone, stick it on any spare machines you have - it shouldn't affect anything else :!:

I would re-register under a different name. Doesn't really matter what name you use just so long as you join the team PLEASE!

edit - Dave is too fast for me to reply in time with the wrong answer!

Looks like we might regain 15th place soon as Xtremesystems appear to have dropped the ball and there's only 1 user contributing any worthwhile credits!

I appear to have a conflict between the DLV client and my latest CPDN BBC CCE WU - when I started the DLV client this morning the following occurred to the CPDN WU

19/05/2006 09:48:03|climateprediction.net|Result hadcm3lbm_bby8_05297971_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file
19/05/2006 09:48:03|climateprediction.net|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.
19/05/2006 09:48:03||request_reschedule_cpus: process exited
19/05/2006 09:48:04|climateprediction.net|Restarting result hadcm3lbm_bby8_05297971_0 using hadcm3lb version 5.08

And yes I do have a CPDN BBC CCE WU (the 'm' identifies it as such - ordinary BBC CCE WU's have a 'n').

Thats nothing to do with anything else running, some WU's glitch out like that it is quite normal on BOINC for it to happen, if it was a problem with this program it would happen continuosuly on BOINC, its a problem that pops its head up every so often. Usually down to some kind of computer problem

UBT - Halifax--lad is the first in the team to find and confirm the first batch of duff links with a block of 21 404's.

At last! Thought we were going to be the only high team without any!.

This site seems to have stuck now. Have been looking at the stats and realised that neither us nor MacOS had increased over the last few days (probably everyone else as well but I wasn't looking at them). Shows us with 705481 credits, a quick fiddle with the calculator and we should have 811201.

Free-DC now show correct stats for this project.

http://stats.free-dc.org/new/allteams.php?proj=red

Also shows we did a sneaky overtake of Team MacOS X - so we're in 13th place! Ready-responce seem to have switched off so there's a good chance we'll overtake them in a few days.

At the moment there's only 3 of us contributing so if any one wants to join us (uses very little computing power) please do so!

http://www.readyresponse.org/index.php? ... =12&tid=24

Download the client and join the team!

Darn! They noticed! Although there's only 2 contributing in 'Team MacOS X' they now have DOUBLE the amount of computers our 3 contributers are using, they're RAC is double ours over the last 3 days so they're on a spurt and catching up rapidly!

We only need a couple of extra people to keep them at bay. The project uses minimal bandwidth (verify's 10 web links over 5 minutes - that's it - no downloads or any other resources required).

Posted: Sat Aug 26, 2006 9:17 pm
by UBT - Halifax-lad
Come on people I'm sure some of you lurkers running BOINC can also run this project only needs a 24/7 net connection to run all the time or enable it when your on the net, takes up little CPU resources so BOINC will run fine too.

Just keep it going sometimes the server is slow at keeping up but it all gets on the stats eventually.

Don't forget to make sure you are doing the maximum amount of work available 10 links every 5 mins

See

For better stats

But they should show something by now!

Right click the 'taskbar' icon and select 'show client'. Does it show 'XXXX links validated'?

Thanks, I will check it tonight, it is contacting their server OK every 5 mins and downloading/validating links but still no stats. Maybe Norton interferes with it as it took me ages to get Dimes to work even then only on UDP not the other thing it measures (Yeah I am not over computer literate)

[20:56] Client started

[20:56] Connecting to Red Library server...
[20:56] Attempting to download link data...

[20:56] Data successfully retrieved - Verifying...
[21:01] Validating next set of links...

[21:01] Connecting to Red Library server...
[21:01] Attempting to download link data...

etc etc and still no stats, tried downloading again and no difference, any suggestions how I can get this working?

It probally is working so slow at the stats :?:

Posted: Sat Sep 02, 2006 8:10 pm

Nah - that's not right! Should be validating - not verifying! It seems that the data you're getting isn't right for some reason. Should get 'validating XXXX address' 10 times, a pause then validating the next set of 10 links. Not at home PC to check that's right but I think so.

It looks as if the stats are beginning to trickle through again guys.  :P

Interestingly enough, while I was waiting for my first results to show, I was fooling aroung with the names of my agents and the changes were reflected on the stats almost immediately. Some sort of communication was apparently there with the servers but not the credits.

I'm presuming that my paltry credit total is not a reflection of four days work on three machines so I'm hoping that the rest of the credits will come flooding in very soon.

Something wierd going on here.

SETI.Germany just overtook us.

'Good for them' I thought - so I had a look at their stats. They've validated 2706764 links and ZERO 404's. Plus it seems they're running farms as well to get so many links done in so short a time - there are only 7 members in the team. 'Fornax' has done 900 at the last update which, if I worked out this right, is 9 PC's running. Now I know this is possible, but it's the nil 404's and the very rapid climb that's ringing alarm bells here.

404's have always taken a long time to be validated

Currently on the Red Library site.
As I am sure you have noticed, our server has been inaccessible recently. This is due to a hardware failure on our server, and we have had to work with the hosting company to a)diagnose the problem, and b) setup a new server.
Our hosting company have now confirmed the hardware issue, and we have been issued a new dedicated server. This server is in the process of being setup - and we are aiming to have it up asap. We thank you for your patience during this time.

Just thinking about reinstalling this and saw the message. Bit weird as there are still results coming in here. Maybe just old results in the backups.

Anyone know what the new URL is for Red Library DLV Client?

I've been having a look around the disc and I found the original URL and program but I keep getting URL not found!

Never heard of it before, but did a google search and all the links I found were dead or broken.
