At last, it's time for the FINAL push.....

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all,

Just a little historical info.

We've been chasing down another team for a good few months now, in order for UBT to become the #1 Ranked UK team on SETI.

On 4th May, we were 1,956,722.49 credits behind

By 14th July, we were only 963,261.60 behind - so we made up 1 million credits in about 70 days.

By 13th Oct, we were only 183,032.15 behind - so we'd done 780,000 credits in approx. 3 months - things had slowed a little bit, due to our efforts on SAP - after all SETI wasn't closing, but SAP will be soon.

As of now, we're only 60,687.89 behind.....! (7 days crunching has pulled in 120,000 credits...!).

And at current rates, it looks like this coming Sunday or Monday, we might just get there. 8)

So, if anyone has some spare weekend capacity to crunch some extra SETI WU's..... it'd be greatly appreciated.   :D

regards and thanks for (almost) making us the #1 UK SETI Team....!

People keep on trying to take my number 1 spot on Tanpaku which is slowing me down on SETI! (You know who you are - trying to creep up on me - I'm watching!)

But I've got a 100 gap now so I'm exclusively SETI 'til they try and catch me again! :D

I've now got my work Laptop crunching Seti as well. It's only a clunky old PIII running Win2K but I figure that every little helps at this stage, eh?

I've also finally worked out how to tweak my preferences so Seti's getting a bit of an extra push on my fastest machine too.....

I think they are trying to fight back......
Their RAC is over 30,000, might take a little bit longer than expected.

We are still catching but it was by 1000-1500 per hour, it is now down to 500!

If they are "fighting back", I think they've left it a bit late...... 8)

Doesn't actually matter WHEN we pass them - today would be nice - but then again, so would tomorrow...!  :D

Was crunching SETI but had to shut down my home machines as I'm away on a course and it's a strict no-no on the works one. Thought we'd be past them by now but it can't be much longer.

Will just have to have a celebratory beer in the bar tonight with another tomorrow to be absolutely sure.  :)

Think it's more that "they" have slackened off a bit in the last hour (only 569 credits awarded vs. our 2,675), rather than our credits have jumped up significantly.

However, am very pleased that our RAC HAS actually increased in the last couple of days:

So, many thanks to all who responded to the "call".

Just over 3,250 to go now - so, maybe by 7pm tonight, we'll have edged ahead....... 8)

I've changed the banner at the top of the page so it updates every 5 mins. That should allow everyone to be as upto-date as possible!

Yup - but the stats further down the member list seem to get updated before the one's at the top, so I've modified the code to show the lower ranked positions.

Seems we're VERY VERY close right now !!

Well, that might be all we need....!

(Or rather a few thousand WU's each with that amount of credit.. :D  )

Of course, what we should also remember is that some "pending" WU's may be credited at various random times through the next day or so - hence we might be too-ing and fro-ing with them for a while yet...

Hi John,

Warm - yup - just eating my dinner.

Fuzzy - yup - drinking a nice glass of red wine

And as for getting you lot together.....well, I'm not so sure I want to take on board all of that responsibility.....!

But thanks for the thought......

Now, about those OcUK people......???????

Need to alter it to say Number 1 in UK now or change it over to some other project/team

As for OCUK we are closely getting towards producing the same amounts of credit they produce each month, will be a while until we get to that mega total
