I've been off the air to BOINC for a few days while I did some tinkering with my PC.
I've now got an SSD for my system drive and I've bumped memory up to 12GB, the max for my MBD.
A clean install of Windows as well, and I now find boot time and performance to be way faster than before.
I don't suppose it'll make much difference to crunching power, but we'll see.....

As you indicate, crunching power as such not really, but stopping that "I'm walking through quicksand" feeling - very definitely.
Its like walking out of a smoke filled room to fresh air and sunlight. Not a silver bullet of course, but it definitely turns up the enjoyment control switch many many notches :toothy7:
