Signatures.

Post by Darren »

I have re-written the signature graphic

http://signature.ukboincteam.com

this now updates every hour, but that will be phased back to every 4 hours once I am happy it all works.

Now that this one seems to be working ok, I am going to stop the old one.
This will be stopped on Friday 23rd June.

There are only a few colours available at the moment but I am working on adding about 40 more very soon.

Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :sad2:

It's not as I hate the new one, I just prefer the old one.  IMHO it looks cleaner and neater.

Any chance of a header without the curved ends - that's the part I don't like.

I'll try to sort summat out b4 Friday for you.
I did ask for suggestions, maybe a different shaped header could have been asked for then?

Hiya,

Does it take a day or 2 for all the Projects to be added into the signatures file ?

It works off your CPID, so you need to make sure username & email are both exactly the same for each project

Hi,

I check which projects your cpid is attached to once every day and then I update thos projects every hour.
If you attach to a new project, the program will not find out until the next morning, assuming you have used the same email address and the cpid has updated correctly, but once the new project has been recognised the updates will be automatic.

I'll run a manual update now and lets see what happens.

OK, it has noticed you also do seti and rosetta so at 4 mins past 7, your signature should recognise this.

Hi,

Yep, it's sorted lovely thanks.

The WCG Project presumably will not come up as its running as a DU on another machine. I'll probably register with Einstein with BOINC and keep separate from WCG.

Cheers, Steve.

You preferred the old style signature?
No probs cus there will be a "compatability mode".

Need to add some more colours first (next week) and the individual stats (for people that want those - nearly done) and the ability to "hide" some stats so that the lists can be made smaller (again for people that want that).

Also got to finish updating the new web site (weekend) and fix the cookie problems.

Then there are the team stats, if other teams want their stats doing as well (not sure how I can do this at the minute but I am sure I can find a way.

Maybe I can scrape the data from BOINCStats

How much space / characters can be utilised?

And given that the logo could be used by both members and non-members, so something specific to help gain us more members might be worthy?

Here's a few:

Do you crunch? - then join UK BOINC Team
BOINC waits for no man - crunch for UBT!

That's enough - going to bed now ! (Had a long day).

The space varies.
But all of the space between the date and the version no.

I have added 3 of your 4 but any other ideas?

Would it be posible to add a line between the user name and the column headings to place the messages?  That way it would be displayed regardless of how many columns wide the graphic is.

As it would also be above the stats, I think it would be in a more prominent position.  Perhaps a bold font as well.

I can move it to the top, but as you can see there may still be  a space problem.

Depends how many columns the user wants and how much information is displayed!

can't you just make the width to be set by the longest line length plus border space.

And drop the top split line down, or put two split lines in

i.e

Hmm, I can do that.
I will give set it up this afternoon cus I am busy playing with house alarms at the minute.

EDIT: OK added it to the top but not in bold becasue that looks odd.
There are 5 different "adverts" and you get a different one based on the width of the signature.

I am not too sure about it.

I have spaced the bottom a bit so it doesn't look as crowded.

If we had more advert lines I could set them up as a random addition.

I appear to be missing CPDN off my sig? Been crunching it for nearly a week now. Any suggestions? (It isn't listed under the manage projects tab).
As a little aside it is estimating completion in 100 days, is this normal?

Hi,

Do you have the same cpid on einstein as the other projects?
If not you need to change the email address for that project to bring it in line with the others.

If you can give me the cpid for einstein I'll fudge the server so it appears

Yepp, you have two cpid's.
You need to check the email address on the einstein project.

I have added the instein one to your siggy and it should appear very soon.

No, but sometimes it takes 2 or 3 days or more before it appears on your sig. LHC does not appear at all at the present time.

On the UK Boinc Team Signature page it states rather boldly
"The most up-to-date Boinc stats on the planet!"

Might one enquire as to what planet this might be? as although I know there is a problem with PG my sig has not altered in almost 2 weeks, further to this I joined Xtremelabs a month ago and RCN 5 days ago and neither are yet showing on my sigs.

I feel this is either due to blatant racism (The phrase, 'Little green men will soon be banned as not being PC) or gross neglect on the part of The Dazza as he devotes all his waking hours praying to the UotD Gods.

If this matter is not rectified forthwith, I feel I have no other option than to take up American citizenship and sue under the Trades Description Act.

OK, I have added a small enhancement to the signature code.
If you are doing Dimes or Majestic 12 the credits for these can now be added to the signature.

On the "Manage Projects Page" there is a space to add you id's for these two projects.
Dimes id is your username but Majestic give you a numeric one.

Enter this info in the boxes supplied. Click 'Change Settings' and if you have entered the correct info these should appear on the signature.

If there are any other non-boinc projects that produce stats let me know and I will look at adding those as well.

For the space concious people that have loads of projects I have added a new animated signature.

This can be found on the graphic style page and looks like mine below...

The frames flip over every 3 seconds but this will be adjustable shortly.

I am really uncertain about the animated one.
It just doesn't look right.

I'll make it a bit shorter by moving the dimes/majestic data into the animated section and see what it looks like then.

Any thoughts, or is the system having a little holiday atm ?
