Primegrid Year of the Tiger challenge

This section is where you can post topics related to Challenges from other websites, such as Formula-BOINC, SETI-Germany and BOINCstats, as well as project challenges such as from WCG, PrimeGrid et al.

As a Team, we really want to engage as many team members with these challenges, as this gives us a great way of attracting more members to our Team...plus we get to show our strengths as a Team by (hopefully) doing well in each one.

PS: I have moved lots of topics into this section where they are relevant...as you can see, we've always been happy to take part in Challenges...and long may that continue ;-)

Primegrid Year of the Tiger challenge

Post by UBT - Rick Horn »

The latest PG challenge is a 3 day event on Proth Prime Search (LLR), and starts on February 14th. at 18-00, and ends on February 17th. at 18-00.

That gives us 5 days to lower cache levels etc.

Are we up for this one, guys?

Looking on the PG site, there are 5 projects which have 100 WUs or less available to download at this present time.

Available: Proth Prime Search (LLR)   4901
A sizeable increase from yesterday! The message boards state that only PPS (LLR) wu's will be released during the Challenge, so I hope they're going to make a whole lot more!

Problem with 'server unable to open database' message seems to have cleared itself up. Not a lot of talk about it on the message boards, so obviously not considered too serious at this stage.

I`ve been watching the Primegrid site, on and off, all day.
It seems that the main problem is that the server has been overloaded, presumably due to the current challenge.

That's not to mention the way the WU have been sent out, its confused the BM  totally!!
I resorted to Pausing all the part crunched WU's and manually allowing the WU with the shortest completion time to complete, it was that or the distinct possibility of timed out WU's.

All sorted now so lets keep it up team !!

... and I see we are currently going through an "unable to open database" phase again.

Glad I updated my cache size to 5 hours after last night; I hope it's enough  :?

Yes, It`s becoming increasingly annoying!
If PG don`t sort themselves out soon, I`m going to call it a day, and go back to what I was doing before the challenge.

My stats show that I got one last night.  No e-mail though, so I'm probably just the double-checker, but it's nice to hit something.
