Not yet.  I'm trying to get the Linux one running by creating another app_info.xml but it's sods law that I'm not getting any enhanced workunits yet to try the bloody thing

These are apps that were tested at the same time as enhanced so they do work and have been fully tested

I have modified the app_info.xml file I posted yesterday to use the optimised enhanced app.

New app_info.xml

The windows version of the optimised enhanced app is named "setiathome_5.11_windows_intelx86.exe" so there is no need to change that part of the file but, as I posted yesterday, The info_app.xml file assumes that your optimised seti app is named "setiathome_4.11_windows_intelx86.exe", if it's not you need to either rename the app file (quickest and easiest way) or modify the info_app.xml file and change all instances of setiathome_4.11_windows_intelx86.exe with the name of the application file.

I'm interested in any performance  benefits

don't think we are going to get a great performance boost,  I've got it running on my windows PC on a workunit that Boinc states will take 5 hours.  After an  hour and 15 min it's at 26.26%.  All the enhanced workunits I've completed so far have been about 3.5 hours to complete so won't know much until I get one of those.

One strange thing I have noticed is that my Linux based PC only gets the old workunits and my windows one seems to get mainly enhanced ones.

A nice clear, concise answer to the question, thanks Paul.
I suppose it will depend on the angle range of the WU, so we'll have to see over time.

the easiest way it stick it on and find out for yourself the app has only been out a couple of days so no one will know exactly how good it is

I am putting mine on once the normal work has dried up

Well it seems to be fast enougth.  My computer is the top one on this list, (Athlon 64 3000+) and their are 2 3GHz Pentium 4 PC's also in this list, but I've claimed a lot more credit.

Have looked at that WU, I wouldn't use that one as a reference to how fast the app is see this:
core_client_version>5.2.13</core_client_version>
<stderr_txt>

Windows optimized S@H Enhanced application by Crunch3r
Version info: Windows SSE2 V5.11 by Crunch3r

Work Unit Info:
...............
WU true angle range is :  0.0317

SETI@Home Informational message -9 result_overflow
NOTE: The number of results detected exceeds the storage space allocated.

</stderr_txt>
Notice the -9 result_overflow :?:  This means the WU had too much background noise in there, so BOINC has abandoned the WU, and give you credit for the bit it has done

I agree that its not a good example, but it's the best I have at the moment.  I would assume that all the computers involved stoped at the same percentage done.

Most of the workunits I have crunched with this optimised app have stoped early with the same -9 result_overflow.

This could be an interesting one to watch

Will keep an eye on that one.

The reason a lot of WU's have the -9 thing, is due to the science code been modified to be more advanced, so if it sees too much noise it will abandon the WU rather than carry on and produce a result that is useless

Well I had 10 enhanced work units to process.
But... After I had to shut the machine down and re-start it, for another reason entirely, they were all gone. :!:

My machine has since not downloaded another one!
Now all I get is "No work sent" in red letters.

Anyone else having a problem?

Don't know why the WU's have gone, but the reason you may not be getting the work is probably because BOINC still thinks you have the WU's hit the reset project button for SETI in BOINC

Finally got enhanced for Linux now.  Here is the app_info.xml if anyone wants it. Remember to change the file names if they don't match.
(I've posted it this way as "someone" decided to put a link to the zip file I created on the seti@home forum, thus eating up my limited bandwidth in no time)

Here's a better example of a workunit from my Linux based PC.  Claimed 168 credits, got 62

There is a new version of the optimised SETI Enhanced app @ http://www.guntec.de/Crunch3r/seti_e.html.

The only change seem to be that the credit claimed is closer to that of the standard app.
