Gauntlet - last call email sent

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all,

I've just emailed (again!) our Top 90 SETI members (by RAC) who haven't yet responded to our "Call to arms" to participate in the Gauntlet 2007.

It's now going down to the wire as to whether we will increase our Gauntlet team membership to more than the 70 who have registered already.

regards

Tim
This is the LAST call for UK BOINC Team members, crunching on SETI@home project, to help our team as we participate in The Kings International Gauntlet 2007, which lasts from 4th-18th November 2007.

SETI@Netherlands have organised an unofficial competition, lasting two weeks, where international teams of SETI crunchers compete to be crowned Gauntlet Champions.

More info is here: http://forum.seti.nl/showpost.php?p=463625&postcount=84

Through our forum,

(here: http://forum.ukboincteam.com/viewtopic. ... highlight= )

we have asked for UK BOINC Team members (who are crunching for SETI) to join in - so far, we have 70 members (out of a total of over 950 members who have joined our SETI team).

And we're asking YOU to join in the fun and to contribute towards our cause...!

You must hurry, as the CLOSING DATE for membership registration is 8pm on 28th October 2007....TOMORROW !!

How do you join in?

To ENSURE your participation, your best option is to email the S@NL Gauntlet administrator, whose email address is as follows:

rweezepoel at yahoo dot com (edit: changed to stop web-bot snarfing)

and include the following info:
- your SETI account name and
- your SETI account number (if known) - both can be found on the "Your account" page on SETI website)
- your Team name (UK BOINC Team, of course)

If you can do this BEFORE Sunday 28th Oct at 8pm, it would be appreciated

What are the "pro's and con's"??

Upside: The more UBT members we get, crunching for SETI@home, over the two weeks, the better our chances of winning.

Downside: None - your own individual crunching efforts are not sacrificed in ANY way - all that happens is that each "Gauntlet  member" credits awarded during the two-week "Gauntlet" period are totalled together and then ranked, against other teams similar  efforts.

We already have 70 members signed up - but ideally we need at least 100....then we should have a great team assembled and we'll have a great chance of winning!!

regards

Tim
