Marathons

This section is where you can post topics related to Challenges from other websites, such as Formula-BOINC, SETI-Germany and BOINCstats, as well as project challenges such as from WCG, PrimeGrid et al.

As a Team, we really want to engage as many team members with these challenges, as this gives us a great way of attracting more members to our Team...plus we get to show our strengths as a Team by (hopefully) doing well in each one.

PS: I have moved lots of topics into this section where they are relevant...as you can see, we've always been happy to take part in Challenges...and long may that continue ;-)

Marathons

Post by bigsinky »

ok i will admit i am too lazy to go through marathons to see what is worth chasing for a point or two. Can anyone give me a run down on how we are doing in the marathons. I did have a look. in some we are close to getting some points in others we are miles off. what projects can i devote some of my cpu and gpu time to that will be best suited to UK boinc team. As you can see i have fondness for Primegrid and devoting most of my time to PPS sieve except when sprints are on. I like Moo! Wrapper and collatz as well. these are my 3 main earners. i am pushing for my first double bronze in PG.

However if if BUK need help in other areas i could be persuaded to change to a project that we have at least some hope of getting some marathon points in.

Hi Neil,

There is a members only section devoted to Formula Boinc - http://www.ukboincteam.org.uk/newforum/ ... m.php?f=94 where I do sporadic updates of the projects that we need help in.

Currently, http://www.ukboincteam.org.uk/newforum/ ... 13#p121776
Defensive:
CPUs on VGTU, YAFU or NFS (high memory requirements) in that order
GPUs on Moo

Offensive:
CPUs on ODLK, Gerasim or SRBase in that order
GPUs on Collatz

Speculative:
Canada could be caught in Climate Prediction (if they haven't been already, the numbers are very erratic and confusing)
Need a couple of million for points in YOYO but it seems no-one's crunching it much.

When available:
BURP, CAS, DENIS, DrugDiscovery and Mindmodelling.
As you can see, we needed a boost on ODLK so this sprint has come at a good time :D

We're not doing too well in the PrimeGrid marathon at the moment so there's no real need of any help there. We're in second place in Moo! so could do with staying there (although we're at least a month off being caught at the moment) and I've just started doing Collatz to boost us up the table there, any help will be appreciated.

Sprints are always useful as any points gained there are permanent and don't need defending and it doesn't matter if we're well out of the marathon points, we can still get points from a good showing in the sprints.

All just suggestions if you have nothing better to do with your GPUs, good luck with your double bronze :)

Hi

Looks like we might lose a couple more points at Climate Prediction after today's update. We were running similar output but they've added an extra 100,000 this last week and are only 9,000 behind now. I've got 11 running at the moment. Luckily, as the due date is 2020, they easily give way to other tasks when required.

Hi

Couple more points lost at Climate - looks like Australia will also overtake fairly soon as well. Also lost a point at Collatz.
