Mega Mini-Summer Crunch July 24th - 6th August !

This section is where you can post topics related to Challenges from other websites, such as Formula-BOINC, SETI-Germany and BOINCstats, as well as project challenges such as from WCG, PrimeGrid et al.

As a Team, we really want to engage as many team members with these challenges, as this gives us a great way of attracting more members to our Team...plus we get to show our strengths as a Team by (hopefully) doing well in each one.

PS: I have moved lots of topics into this section where they are relevant...as you can see, we've always been happy to take part in Challenges...and long may that continue ;-)

Mega Mini-Summer Crunch July 24th - 6th August !

Post by UBT - Halifax-lad »

Well Rosetta/RALPH won

Rosetta is currently taking part in CASP 7 so the crunch will give them a week of much needed CPU time from some of us who may not run Rosetta 24/7

If you're reading this and want to know about Rosetta go to this link & maybe you just what to join our team and help fight this noble cause go to this link

Most WU's now run with no errors so everyone should be fine to crunch.

Good start to the crunch.
Tonight we will pass the 1 million credit mark in Rosetta. So it will be very easy to count up the credits gained the next week.

We went through the 1 MILLION mark for Rosetta at 1am this morning....!

(and the total credits for Rosetta at the start of the MMSC was 999,946.57 )

And MOST IMPORTANTLY - we're just 92,000 credits behing OcUK - and if we pass them, we'll be #1 in UK  :wav:

I see what you mean....!

Well, that's GOOD, coz it's about time some of these other so-called Teams started to pay a LOT of attention to UBT........... !

I can forsee a day, when UBT will be the top UK team.....in ALL projects. Sure it might take a while to overhaul the odd few teams who might have a bit of a head-start on us.....but hey, where's the harm in that?

Live long and crunch, I say !

Just a quickie for all:

We're about 70,000 credits behind OcUK - who are currently in 1st place in UK on Rosetta.

And we're currently out-crediting them by 5,000+ credits per day.

If some members want to continue crunching for Rosetta, we stand a good chance of becoming #1 UK Team on Rosetta in about 10-14 days time !!

seems worth going for another first place - especially as we can do it in a short time.

How about putting this as one of our short term targets?

I call for the "Mega Mini-Summer Crunch" to become the "Mega Midi-Summer Crunch" that runs for 14 days, that way I think we have a real shot at becoming #1 in the world before the crunch finishes.

Question is once we get to #1 can we stay there?

Interesting to see that virtually all Overclockers credits come from one user - Team Jolt Cola. Don't know if it has any relevance at all but its nice to see lots of people involved rather than just those with a farm (sorry big boys on here

Mega Mini-Summer Crunch - extended !

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all,

Well, seems like we crunched around 89,000+ credits worth of Rosetta WU's during the "MMSC" - and we're now very close to becoming #1 in UK on Rosetta, so personally, I think it's worth us carrying on for another week - until 23:59pm on Sunday 6th August - and we'll see if we can make it to #1 UK Team.

Of course, once there, it might be short-lived - depends on what our normal "RAC" is, compared to others.

But let's give it a shot and see what happens !

looking at the graphs going back a bit we seemed to be on average higher than overclockers uk on longer term RAC. Although they may fight harder to regain first place in the UK (once we take it)

At 16:00 today we had Kenneth Hancock join the team, with his 16,900 Rosetta credits.
Pity the credits don't count towards UBTs total but its some more RAC for the cause.

Well today, 2nd August, was our best day ever on Rosetta with 13,595 credits, but we are still 6.22 days behind our target.

Lets make sure we don't have to extend this to a 3 week Crunch by doing it in 2!

The great thing with this project is you can choose how long the work units should last by changing the Rosetta Options.

So if anyone hasn't joined in yet then NOW is the time to crunch a few Rosetta work units.

I don't think we can catch them in time.
Only 3 days of the Crunch to go but we are still 5.75 days behind them.

We are only 34,000 credits behind but not catching quickly enough.

We need a few more people to join in with the crunch for the last 3 days.

Well if the momentum carries on after the crunch we will pass them, but even if we do pass them they will soon take over us again if we don't keep on top of it, and that requires more people to crunch Rosetta whilst we all concentrate on the rest of the projects too

I have no problem with this, (i.e. extending the Crunch) as long as there are:

- no complaints if we extend this crunch
- no cause for complaints if we need to extend a different crunch (in the future and for a good reason)

Ultimately, though, irrespective of whatever is said, in the end it's the TEAM effort that is important - and if the majority want to crunch for Rosetta, until we get to the magic #1, then so be it.....after all, the Crunch is VOLUNTARY... :D

But it would be so COOL, to make it to #1 while many people are crunching for Rosetta - although, one wonders how long we'll keep the title, if we don't then keep crunching and then slip back to #2...!

I'm sure similar will happen again
after all, the Crunch is VOLUNTARY...
exactly, people can crunch for whatever project they want
But it would be so COOL, to make it to #1
it would be very cool.
IF UBT makes it to #1, however briefly, we can at least say UBT got to #1

Well it has been a totally amazing efort so far - and if it encourages other teams to get on and crunch then it encourages scientific research and everyone is a winner. Let's keep going - we are a great team and it is also each person's own decision which project to support. So go on - even if I it is not one of my favourites :D

Hi all,

Well done everyone !

The Crunch has now finished and we racked up 183,282.24 credits in two weeks -  a great effort by all who joined in.

We're now only 11,523.14 credits to go and then we'll be the #1 UK Rosetta Team. By right's that should happen within the next two days - so please keep on crunching and then we'll be there !!

Closing in on #1 UK spot (Rosetta)

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all,

Well the good news is that, as of 9pm tonight, we're just about 9,622 credits behind the #1 position for UK teams on Rosetta.

With a little luck, we should be in 1st place by perhaps this time tomorrow night, maybe Wednesday morning, depending on how the overnight results pan out.

So, if you're still crunching for Rosetta (post-Crunch), keep it going a little longer please and we can open the bubbly (or whatever your tipple is).

regards,

Tim

Hmm, now let me see - how many pennies have I got in my purse? Oh dear, only a few!

So, sadly, I'm not able to buy a few crates of bubbly and to then arrange delivery to all the Team crunchers around the country, oops, world (as we have some non-UK based members as well now !).

However, in my mind, I'm imagining everybody drinking a nice glass of Dom Perginon or maybe a good Moet...!

Hmmm,, just taste those bubbles.....

Tim

PS Just an hour or two to go now - only 650 credits behind (as at 9am !!)

Hi all,

Guess that if you've got this far, you'll know we've just taken over in the #1 UK slot on Rosetta project.

And the BIG BONUS is, of course, that this also means we've gone up one place in the Rosetta World rankings as well - and just to keep your minds on this, we're within a few thousand credits of at least another 3 teams ranked above us....so can we make the Top 40 in the world???

So, a hearty "WELL DONE" to all contributors (past and present) for this fantastic achievement.

Of course, they'll be a reaction as external forces muster to re-take the position........so we must be unrelenting in our passion to continue the great strides made and to ensure we can open up a sensible margin and to protect what is truly ours by rights....

But we can celebrate as well - just wait until the stats sites catch up sometime tomorrow......I just can't wait.....!

http://www.boincstats.com/stats/team_st ... %20Kingdom

regards,

Tim

Keep on crunching for Rosetta

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Lest we not forget, although we overtook OcUK, and now have the #1 UK ranking, we still need around 6,000+ credits per day to keep this spot.

So, please let's not take our foot off the gas totally, else they'll creep up and nick it back...!

Any "Rosetta Cheerleaders" nearby ??

Don't like wearing skirts, shaking my boobs at men or dancing with fluffy hand held things, so I'll give the cheerleader bit to someone else. (maybe BHC-Jackie  )

But - I've got Rossetta and Seti running on Works putas (only 4 x 1.2G Durons), they pull approx 60-80 RAC each, so should help keep us at No.1 A wee wee wee little bit
