Tip No. 428

Best advice - drink lots and lots of water. You'll feel better and "it'll" come out quicker and squishier and you'll have less chance of inducing piles !!!!!

You'll sleep better as well.

Typical bloomin' civil servants  :D  - see this is why the economy is going to the dogs - they fancy a day off and whoosh - "it's OK, take a day, no one needs you".

Try doing that in the real world.....result = One x P45.

I wish, got some gold holographic titanium flake though 8) Check out our Nels Yamaha R6 he just painted, Subaru blue with gold holographic flake bands and a final sprinkle of gold holo over, no clear coat has been sprayed yet so there a bit dull. images 5 and 8 show the holographic effect best. Ill take some piccys of it finished as soon as the sun comes out, looks proper nice

my avatar? it's just a 4inch Diameter piece of metal with the ends turned up to fit a curved surface.

Part of a fuel filler mount getting welded to a rear quarter panel. :)

Current mood = pissed off and pissed up.
Being made redundant in 1 week. Now on 10 weeks `gardening leave`.

Not allowed near any company machines unless supervised. (That's what comes of formerly being the UK corporate sysop/administrator)

Will miss out on about 300 cobblestones a day as well.

A bit happier now than I was 2 hours ago!

Car kept on cutting out and nearly died completely taking Mrs. Mikey to work. If it hadn't restarted Basil Fawlty would have had nothing on me!

Found out it's the electric switch part on the ignition switch. Local Vauxhall garages are closed for the weekend and I didn't think it worth going to local scrappy as a replacement might be just as bad.

Sort of fixed it though!

Amazing what you can do with 2 bits of wire and a clothes peg!

In mourning

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all,

Am VERY SAD today.

Oscar, our BSH ginger tom cat has died after suffering from Chronic Renal Failure.

16 years old and has been with us since forever (or so it feels) since he was a kitten.

In the end, he was wasting away, he wouldn't/couldn't eat and despite still being friendly to us and enjoying sitting on the window ledge in our (south facing) living room, lapping up the warmth of the sun, we knew he wouldn't "last" through the cold of winter.

We've now buried him, in a sun trap in our garden.

Tim

Profile changed to show Oscar at his best...prowling in our garden, scaring the birds away and keeping us "safe".

16 years is a long time for a cat, at least it has had a good life and people who cared for it

Tim, so sorry to hear your sad news. Wondered why your av had changed! My kitty cat is 17 and a quarter with an overactive thyroid but hopefully will last a few more years yet.  I'm dreading the day she goes though...

I`m very sorry to hear your sad news. 50 is no time to die these days, your mum must be devastated. Being 60 myself, I keep reading obituary columns where people younger than me have died. It makes you think of your own mortality.

Kindest regards, Rick.

Extremely p****d off. Was 18 hours into a large WU when the pc crashed and lost the lot. Why dosen`t it happen 5 minutes into one instead? I`ve decided that God must be a massive mainframe on another planet, and he dosen`t like me.

Maybe I`ll start running Seti@Home and see if I can spot him.

Happy

Just discovered that our 3rd child in the oven is a boy.

My eldest, Trinity, is two and a half and she is already pretty good at using a mouse, a touchpad and a trackball on various computers. Jaren is 18 months and he is tech-crazy. He loves playing with anything with electronics in it.

Great news. So that'll be 1 older girl with 2 younger brothers.....

How's "mum"? Keeping well and screaming for Ice Cream on her hotdog's or something similar?

And when's the big day when he should be making an appearance?

regards

Mum is good, but at least she is eating her ice cream and hotdogs separately :)

April 7 is the due date, but the other 2 were both 2-3 weeks early.

Hmmm, so we're talking about a late Pisces or probably an Aries child.......!

Once spring comes, then we'll have to do a "Crunch" in "celebration" of the event (and gives us then 2 excuses to drink a few beers !!).

Fuming...

Post by UBT - Chris Suddick »

After 3 weeks of yanking my chain I finally snapped today and sacked the 'builder from hell'. It's left me in a right hole but it's gotta be better than dealing with this merchant banker.

If anyone in the Warrington area is ever considering having a bathroom refurbished then contact me first and I can tell you who NOT to use.

Christmas Blues for da Skallz by mine

2 off em were caught red handed by one of there dumb ass feet    8)

Had a break in at my factory by an 18yr and 15yr old lads who where seen by police running from my mums car after bailing out the car   , when questioned they said they found it with the keys in it, but little did they know that when they messed up the office and threw all the paper work everywhere, that they had left a dirty big footprint on a piece of paper

Your Going Down Lad     Your Ass Belongs To Me

So now I've got to fix loads of locks, doors, roller shutters, get my mums car fixed (engine runns funny, wobly wheels, bald tyres - gits) get a new van, fix one of the vans ign and steering column, tidy up the office, but worst of all work out what jobs where on the jobs board that the B@$##@^@$ wiped off.
Someone unknown still has one of the vans, probably used for a smash n grab, but they left all the office equipment though, and didn't touch any of the RV's which are worth £50k+ -

they must of had propa big bolt cutters , chopped straight through 1/2" steel clasps and huge padlocks

Must have been the night for it in Liverpool. My daughter lives in Liverpool and she had her car broken into last night. The scroats flung all her possessions over the pavement and stole the steering wheel! Why? I remain gobsmacked.

Annoyed at my own hamfistedness  :x

Was installing a funky new hard drive enclosure on my main machine and didn't notice one of the power cables had looped round a capacitor on the motherboard

Net result:- one dead Asus fatality 939 board, 24 hrs of lost crunching and a £200 bill for an impromptu upgrade to an AM2 board, chip (4200X2) and a gig of DDR2 ram, so its not all bad

Anybody know where I can buy a 6.3V 1800uF Aluminium can electrolytic capacitor?

- numerous electrical or TV repair shops?
- a friend who has an account with RS?
- a phone call maybe to the Asus distributor for a spare part?
- maybe someone (possibly PiezPiedPy) in the car trade who fixes electrical faults?
- a quick trip down to the municipal dump and pick up a dumped/faulty TV, as there's bound to be a similar capacitor "in there" somewhere...!

Already tried both Maplin and RS they have 1500uF and 2200uF not the 1800uF's though :)

From my days in the electronics trade I seem to remember that values like that were usually used for voltage smoothing so I'd have thought that either 1500 or 2200 uF's may well work - 2200 would be better. When you do get 1 may sure you put it in the right way round though - assuming it's electrolytic!

My current mood is curious
Has our crunch leader been over-indulging with this?

If you want to be a little "adventurous", and not need to get an "exact perfect physical match", you could wire in two insulated "wires" from the boards plated "through-holes" and then get 2x 900uF, or 3x 600uF (or any other combination (e.g. 1x 1200 + 1x 600) and wire them in PARALLEL onto the two "legs" coming up from the board - a little bit of hotmelt would hold the cap's together - this will then give you the desired 1800uF capacity.

Or, you could use the 2200uF capacitor, assuming the usage of the cap is for say voltage smoothing. If it's being used for something else, then the extra capacitance might have an undue side effect. Shoudn't do any harm to try a 2200uF....if you cannot get/make up the correct value.
