Bitcoin - $10,000...

Just checked the Bitcoin price and it's nearly $10k for one! It seems hard to believe that they were worth about $300-500 this time a year or two ago, but they're now at nearly $10k!

After reading this, I recovered one of my old Bitcoin wallets that I'd used with 'faucets' (free Bitcoin dispensers) to tediously gain ~60p over the course of about 10/20 hours overall! Now, that was when the value was 'only' $400 or so, but at $10,000, what I have is a nice little $15 :) really not a lot, but it's better than nothing! Need to get it into 'real money' now :D (although, by the looks of things, as BTC has become more popular, the fee to get anything processed at a semi-decent speed is touching $10! So I'd only have $5 after that :( Might just let it sit, or maybe invest in DOGE or something :D )

Yep; a couple of months ago BTC was at $4,000; now like you say it just hit $10,000.

Annoyingly I had 0.5 BTC back then but when it dipped badly I decided to exchange into other Cryptos.

Personally I think the best crypto investments right now are GridCoin and CureCoin (a) because they are BOINC/Folding@home related, but (b) because they have not had the massive price jump yet, and hence could scale up in the thousands. A bit like BTC was in the first year or so.

1 GridCoin is worth about 4p (up 25%), whereas 1 CureCoin is worth about 30p (up 22%); both up about 3% today.

If you want to buy Crypto easily without having to upload sensitive ID documents, you can buy BTC with a debit/credit card from Coinify.com, and then exchange into GridCoin/CureCoin/DogeCoin/Ethereum/LiteCoin (etc) at HolyTransaction.com

Ouch! That must be annoying to have spent it! Ah well, hindsight is a bit of a pain... I have been looking into CureCoin a bit, actually, so I might consider that soon :) I also have some Reddcoin sitting in a wallet and staking, so hopefully they'll grow soon too! :D

I'll also look into buying like that - it sounds much easier!

Sorry about the delay, I just noticed your reply :?

I would (and do) pick GridCoin over CureCoin, mainly as CureCoin has already increased to 30p whereas GridCoin has not had the price rise yet (being just 4p). Essentially when it does then your investment would jump thousands of % in a few days. :)

In terms of my original 0.5 BTC investment it's not too bad as I moved it into LiteCoin/Ethereum etc, and then when they started to dip, moved it all into GridCoin and CureCoin. Right now my Crypto holdings are still worth 0.41 BTC. If and when GRC (GridCoin) jumps to say 40p, then that would times my BTC holding (relatively speaking) by 10.

Also something else to be aware of is that CureCoin and GridCoin (the cryptocurrencies, not the team's) pay you interest after 30 days on the coins you hold in your GridCoin/CureCoin wallets.

I think ReddCoin is similar to that... You use PoS and 'stake' your coins - the more you have, the more 'weight' you have and the higher your chance of finding a block (every 1-2 mins) and therefore getting a reward :D I have about $10 of RDD staking (they earn more weight the longer you've had them :) ) And currently, I'm expected to find a block in ~200 days (it was 600 this morning!) So hopefully I can find one soon :D

And if anyone wants to check out my DOGE or RDD making (or donate to me ;) ), here are the links to the addresses on the respective block chains :)

https://dogechain.info/address/DDkRc7JH ... LMtiVSrw81
https://live.reddcoin.com/address/ReJU3 ... JC3kDjyVF6

Also, if you want to switch crypto-crypto, a nice, easy, quick and cheap service is ShapeShift (https://shapeshift.io/) - I use it for all of my changing because it just keeps things simple :)

Bitcoin now nearly at $15,000..

So thats a $5K (33%) increase in 10 days ish.

Also GRC is now up 100% from 3p to 6p.

Unfortunately SPARC is still worth £0.00p

... and they haven't issued any for week 48 as far as I can see :(

I see no SPARC stats from last week's crunch; not that I would know as I have about 10 trillion Tskai units ready to upload/report! :(

From what I read their business plan is to bring in, if I remember rightly, $150 million via the ICO and then build the 'SPARC network' from this capital :?

I think they have no chance and hence long run will probably become another Fold/Crunch coin such as CureCoin, FoldingCoin, and GridCoin. Which is fine as long as it increases in value..

UBTCoin, anyone! :)

hi Chris,

I've got figures updated for Boinc credits for week 48 but no Sparc tokens allocated. (On Sztaki, I've got 6,535 waiting to be uploaded and 8,575 waiting to be validated. I was expecting a few Sparc tokens :( )

I could live with $150 million :D

Personally, I don't really care what they become since it hasn't cost me anything to collect them. It would be nice for them to achieve some sort of value though.

Now there's a thought, where do I sign up?

Mark

[edit]Sparc must be monitoring this forum, they've just granted tokens :D[/edit]

Is that number of work units? (over 15,000)

Yeah my SPARC stats just updated, surprisingly I got 58 SPARC from 9,000 WCG credits.
It would be nice for them to achieve some sort of value though.
I am hoping they will get value as it would be nice to add them to the others.

Hi Chris,

Yep, that's workunits but they normally take a while to validate even when the project is active :D

That's not bad going, I don't do WCG so I don't know if that's a standard payout or not.

One pence each will get me another GTX1080 :D

I haven't really looked into any of the cryptocurrencies but when this vid popped up in my YouTube feed I had to watch, I subscribe to this guy, 1 for the entertainment and 2 for the learning of how to do things and how things work, his language is a little colourful, but I like his style.

I would be a little careful as he sounds like he is more Bitcoin Cash than Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Cash are at war with Bitcoin, after having to leave to split out into Bitcoin Cash.

If you want to know more Just Google:

* Bitcoin vs Bitcoin Cash
* Bitcoin block size
* Bitcoin SegWit
* Bitcoin transaction fees
* Bitcoin: micropayments vs high value asset class

Seems like I did ok on Bitcoin when I did.

I owned approx 11% of a coin in August (roughly £330) and sold it the day it passed £8000 on December 7/8 and I got £1105 in return.

Paid for the golden gravel on my driveway lol

Everytime I walk on it now I think, "That was a good investment"....If I'd held off a week it would have been £1500 but i'm not complaining.

Now look at it, it hit £5339 yesterday and continues to fall after losing 42% of it's value in 1 month.

If it hits £4000 I may buy some more and try my luck again.
