64-bit Client Possible?

Post by Ben »

Not sure if it is possible to have a x64-bit client for climateprediction.net or not? Does anyone know if you can get a mod for this, or the program itself in a x64-bit package?

Every little helps, and as i am running 64-bit i may as well go the extra leg to crunch quicker if it is possible. On the quad it is estimated for it to take about 300 hours before it will complete 1 unit.  :(

You can use the 64-bit manager to download a model, but note that the code is identical to the 32-bit version, and is no quicker.  If in Linux-64 you'd need to enable IA32 support (32-bit package compatibility).

300 hours is quite good, I'd guess you've got a 'slab' model.  The 'coupled' model can take 2500 hours to run (if a 160 year model on an AMD 64 or P4).
