HI all,
As of 10pm tonight, we're just 34,075.40 credits behind SwissTeam.NET and 34th World ranking position.
With a little luck and a current RAC "difference" of approx 3,195 per hour, we should pass them sometime after 8am tomorrow (8th March)..!
regards,
Tim

You been having a nostalgia trip through the stats, Tim?
Does our 7% active members reflect the global trend these days?

Re: Overtake SwissTeam.NET? TOO RIGHT WE HAVE !!
Hi Jeffers
Maybe - I was just shuffling some older posts into other more relevant "sections" and was just seeing how far UBT has progressed since 2007 (or thereabouts).
Back then we seemed to be cranking out quite a few credits and had many different "targets" on many projects...so there was a lot of enthusiasm back then for overtaking various competitors.
Nowadays, I think there is a bit less interest in all things BOINC - maybe we've had too many projects...and of course some projects have come and gone and no-one ever found out whether many of the said projects had actually achieved their aims?
Perhaps, if one project had found the cure for AIDS, Cancer, etc then it might be different.
As for active memberships...I really don't know. I think lots of people became disinterested due to the "hassle" of getting BOINC to work (which in the early days it could be a problem)...and likewise I think some people were simply put off by the lack of credits awarded, esp when compared to longer standing members who had earned thousands (and millions) of credits...so new BOINCers may have realised that they were never going to catch up and simply gave up.
I might take a look at the BOINCstats website and see how the other Top 10 teams (in the world) are doing in terms of active vs total memberships.
I'll report back what I find
regards
Tim

Hi all
OK, following on from above, these are the current stats for joined vs active members (and showing active percentage):
World Teams (positions 1-10)
UK Teams (positions 1-6)
These are based on BOINCstats currently displayed stats, which may be lagging "real time" by a few hours, but they are good enough to get an idea of currently active members for various teams. Actives are defined (by me) as having earned credits within the last 4 weeks.
regards
Tim
