We've participated in the WCG Christmas Race for the last three years, and I think that it would be nice to carry on with the tradition (7th in 2007, 19th in 2008 and 28th last year).

So far Rick, Zydor and myself have expressed an interest in participating, but is anyone else up for trying to reverse the downward trend?  :?

Ditto Prof, running the cache down ready. It's an 'All Projects' challenge, so I'll be sticking to 'Cleaner Water' again.

First WCG Xmas Challenge - so need a bit of hand holding.

For the Challenge, is this one the type where all completed WUs submitted after the start time 0001hrs count, or is this the type where the WU must be loaded up initially after 0001hrs ?

Just making sure I am watching the correct start gun  :D

Not a lot - just pick your prefered WCG Project and Crunch.

All the credit earned during the Challenge period is duplicated in a one off total for the Challenge.  There are no special rules for this one - just crunch .... whatever is crunched during the time period is counted automatically to the challenge team total.

The only thing that had to happen was the Team entry - from that point all is automatic and anyone regsitered as part of UK BOINC Team at WCG gets their credits over the challenge period counted as part of the team total for the challenge as well as the usual individual totals.  No individual entry needed.

Regards
Zy

So I can just download the WU's, disable network communication, crunch them and enable communication tomorrow to report them?

Great - I wasn't 100% sure whether to make that post as it may have been construed as inciting cheating :p

Currently crunching C4CW 6.12 at a rate of 1 per 75 minutes (1 every 5 hours with a quad core).

Cheating is such an ugly expression.
I like to call it constructive precrunching!  :D

It's something the foreign chappys used to do and it took us a while to realise!

 Any big team has no chance. The % is based on extra output during the race .... If UK boinc did  20k per day before 1 December we would need to crank it up to 40k for 100% lol ... 1 man teams with very low credit are going to leave us standing  :?
You think we got it hard
48   XtremeSystems -3.62% (15,283,144 / 15,856,380)
-3.6%

oh dear...

It seems we finished in 50th place with a net decrease of 5.79% (297,098 as current average vs the previous 315,344 as a baseline score).

Have to try harder next year I guess.
