Seti Wow Event 2012

This section is where you can post topics related to Challenges from other websites, such as Formula-BOINC, SETI-Germany and BOINCstats, as well as project challenges such as from WCG, PrimeGrid et al.

As a Team, we really want to engage as many team members with these challenges, as this gives us a great way of attracting more members to our Team...plus we get to show our strengths as a Team by (hopefully) doing well in each one.

PS: I have moved lots of topics into this section where they are relevant...as you can see, we've always been happy to take part in Challenges...and long may that continue ;-)

Welcome back Glenn....

...and just in time, I've seen this on the SETI@Home homepage:
Power Outage
Due to a planned day long power outage, which starts early on Wednesday, all servers will be down from the beginning of Tuesday's normal outage until early on Thursday.
14 Aug 2012 | 0:18:44 UTC
So, everyone better "load up" their clients NOW, else there'll be spinning their wheels waiting for WU's to "appear"...

One way to do that is to change is to go to:

"Tools > computing preferences > network" tab in BOINC Manager and change the "Max additional work buffer" to say 3 or 4 days and by the end of the week chance it back to the setting it is now.

Happy Crunching :)
regards
Tim

Just as a side question as its been a while since i crunched any Wu's...is it normal for Seti to not show up in the drop down list on the simple view?

ill try and post a pic so you can see where i mean

Just had a look and it shows the 'running' projects only. I've currently got 4 running including SETI and they all show.

I'd first check in "Advanced view" and see if you're already "attached" to the SETI project.

When in "Simple view", SETI should appear in the "Projects" drop down box....assuming you haven't deleted that project, in which case, just go to "Advanced view" and then go to "Tools" and "Add project..." then select "SETI@home" from the alphabetical list of projects.

Once you've got some WU's and your PC is crunching them, then they should appear in the upper "Tasks" drop down.

Hi all,

We now have 43 UBT members joined up to SETI.Germany WOW event.

The newest recruit is:

Neil Page Gemini

The WOW event itself now has 444 members (as of today) so, UBT still makes up around 10% of the total involvement with the event.

And as I write this the event has generated 38,800,567 credits, with the 31 members of the Cancer team in 1st place with 9,214,992 credits alone :)

There's just over 8 days to go, so there's still time to join in and make a contribution.....

I'm at 24th of 42 in Team Capricornus.

I was going to say I am the highest Brit in Capricornus, until I noticed that I'm the only Brit in Capricornus
