Was wondering.
They pull a tooth and dimes breaks.
coo, the dimes network runs through my lower jaw!
Mind you the way it's swollen up at the moment I don't think much blood is running through there
Stupid teeth!
*EDIT
Just out of interest.
Anyone who is running Vista and has dimes running in agent mode.
When you are in the properties and go to network, and do the check blocking test.
Does it say that UDP is blocked?
On my Vista system is says that UDP is blocked, yet my other pootas are ok.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to your joint efforts we filled up our storage server and have to add an additional RAID, we also upgrade our server. We will start the upgrade today and in the next 2-3 weeks we expect to have several (hopefull short) periods of system downtimes. This means that agents that terminate their scripts will not be able to get a new one and will remain idle until the system is up again.
Those of you that upgraded the agent to the new version 0.5.0 will be able to continue measure even during server shutdown since the new version has a default script that kicks in when communication with the server fails. So I advise everyone to upgrade and enjoy the new features, which include statistics tub, automatic "get info" and a new type of packet-train measurement.

We're about to be HAMMERED by SETI.USA! They ain't messing about either!
http://stats.free-dc.org/new/allteams.php?proj=dimes
I suppose, if we're going to overtaken by anyone, they're just about as good as any!
Well done to UBT - Chris Suddick on just getting 2 million!

They have their own way of doing things - not obvious to us mere mortals!
Just gone up another place to 26th. Next target seems to be 'Team MacOS X'. They overtook us a couple of months after the project started, so it will be nice to catch them again. Problem is it'll take us three months at current rate!

by the look of the stats things are all over the place so i wouldn't worrie about it and leave it running . I think theres a jobbie in the program that lets it continue searching when the servers down .
Mine have disappeared off my computer and the only way i can get to see the setting/graphs is to stop it and restart it .
Just let it run

meh just ignore the DC stats, it will say "Stats are updating" for hours at a time, when the server is offline.
Just make sure you are running DIMES Agent version 0.5.0, that one has the stuff that lets it keep on running if the server is offline.
The errors you have been seeing are just it moaning about the server not working, when it tries to either upload the info (about every 40 mins), and the automatic get info.

Only 8 days since the last update but it's back again now.
Those that were using Free-DC stats should now use http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page ... proj=dimes

Not that I'm one to tell tales, but I don't want to be Mr. Double Pink again!
Ian! Best you get going again as you're gonna lose your #1 spot! (I'll still be Mr. half pink but but it's better than being a total pinky!

And there was young Mr. Chris trying to sneak up on you!

Long time no post!
Just having a look at how we're doing... http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page ... proj=dimes and http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page ... BOINC+TEAM
Not too well! Which is weird as I've been doing these for years!
http://www.netdimes.org/new/?q=node/10 reveals the problem. If you've got Windows 7 and using the Windows firewall - it's blocked! You have to manually adjust the firewall settings - which is a bit of a faff! README file explains how to do it - sort of. It doesn't tell you that ICMP has to be a 'custom' rule and that there are 2 versions of it!
I've done the rules and it seems to be doing it's thing again though I won't know until after tomorrows update.
If I start getting weird things happening due to the new rules (which may be allowing things through that shouldn't) then the rules are coming out and Netdimes is going!

ok - thanks, and haha!
Is it worth asking DIMES to join BOINC - they would get more volunteers, and it would boost our credits on UBT's BOINC, making it a win-win situation?!

The problem is that BOINC tends to award credits based on CPU usage or computing power donated. Dimes uses practically no CPU power. It sends out a routing packet onto the internet and awaits its return to plot the structure of the internet. It then idles for 30 seconds (or whatever time you set it to) and repeats. You get one point for every packet sent. Because of this, my old dilapidated laptop scores as many points as my fast(ish) quad processor. This is an ideal project for someone with slow hardware because they can compete with the best of them.
Chris.
