pPot Tables

Post by Temujin »

Another new project pPot Tables

pPot Tables is computing relative handstrength and 1-card lookahead positive potential for all possible flop, turn and hole card combinations for 2 to 10 players in Texas Hold'em.

They may even have a GPU app available soon :D

Nice ikkle project, CPU temps are a lot lower when running it :)
However noticed one little problem, the workunits don't checkpoint. so if you quit Boinc or reboot, they start from the beginning :(

Well it does on x64 app version, dunno if the x86 has same problem.

Also eep, just noticed I nearly got 1st place (on the team) for the project!
Normally I just Jinx projects, however the 2 that I have got 1st place on both went dead not long after! (TSP & Riesel Sieve)

Well I stopped doing it.
These new short workunit are a pain.
You end up with 1000's of them, if you are running a stock q6600 you end up uploading 250MB perday, and if you use boincview to keep a log of the workunits it slows way down as after 24 hours it has a log of over 5000 workunits!

Oh and the credit is actually down about 16% now :(
Ah well i'll just do some Yoyo and scare the heck oot of Melter :P
Don't think I have Jinxed it before

Yoyo? That's gonna scare you! One of the apps goes up in 12.5% steps. It could be 20 minutes or it could be 20 hours. Either way nothings seems to happen 'til you hit the first 12.5% step! Nice instant credits though.
