Falcon Heavy webcast

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all

I wonder if anyone else was as transfixed as I was this evening when the "demo" launch test of Space Xs Falcon Heavy took off?

Brilliant efforts by them to launch and then simultaneously land the two outer boosters on land - the landing of the "core stage" wasn't covered, so it remains to be seen if that landed OK.

And since then they are doing a live webcast from the Tesla Roadster "payload" that is now in orbit around the Earth, and its main rocket engine will be restarted soon to fly to Mars, along with a dummy driver (known as "Starman") and webcam.

See more here: http://www.spacex.com/webcast

Absolutely,

Made sure I was home in time to watch it, if you liked that then watch this but make sure you have some headphones to hand, only works wearing headphones (binaural audio) https://youtu.be/ImoQqNyRL8Y

Hi all

It's now 5 YEARS, since SpaceX launched Elon Musks personal Tesla Roadster car into space.

And it's been travelling around the Sun ever since.

More info here:

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/02/06/worl ... index.html

And check out what it is up to, how fast it is going and how far away it is (approximately) here:

https://www.whereisroadster.com/

I quite like the facts that:
If the battery was still working, Starman has listened to Space Oddity 496,105 times since he launched in one ear, and to Is there Life On Mars? 668,480 times in his other ear.

20,000 mpg is pretty impressive - but perhaps not as its an electric car
