New Project: iThena

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all

Just found out about another new-ish project here:

https://root.ithena.net/usr/

Account creation via "Add URL" is OFF at present, but you can sign up here:

https://root.ithena.net/usr/signup.php

Edit: Just signed up and Mark had already set up his account and a Team page already !! :-D

Just make sure that in the Preferences section of the website you tick the box for:
Do you consent to exporting your data to BOINC statistics aggregation Web sites?
Notes:
1) This is an NCI-type project and uses very few system resources
2) This project pays out very, very low credits and it seems to favour Windows PCs (in terms of credits) rather than Linux.

regards
Tim

I signed up last year but there was no work and very little project communication. Didn't look like it was going anyway so I didn't think it was worth mentioning

HI Mark

No worries. From what I've read on their messageboards this morning there's not a lot going on, (apart from moaning about credits - so what's new?) - but there are plenty of tasks.

So, maybe a "slow burner" of a project?

I'll have a go at it once the sprint is over, I think it was just Linux when I signed up so I never got any work (I only joined with one Windows PC)

Hi Mark

As a test, I've returned ONE (Windows) task - took 3,300 seconds and earned me 2 credits !! Windoze app seems to need about 3Mb of RAM !!

Linux tasks seem to earn less...lots of gripes on the messageboard about that :-(

Hi all

If you are running Windows PCs and have some iThena tasks, you may find that they are taking a LONG time.

Apparently there is an issue with Windows tasks running the PERF 1.02 app (which doesn't appear to affect Linux PCs).

https://root.ithena.net/usr/forum_threa ... postid=449

So, if your tasks are not completed after 2-3 hours then it might be an idea to abort them and set this project to "No new work" until after Ryisu (iThena project admin) can fix it.
