Another project: PRIVATEGFN

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all

This project has been going for some time, but it might be about to be included in the Formula BOINC 2020 marathon.

If so, then these two links are useful for setting this project up:

Note: You need to visit the website and register an account first - don't use BOINC Manager until you have an account set up.

See here for info for running the GFN-13 and GFN-14 tasks, and a useful app_config.xml file for running multiple tasks on a single GPU.

http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.p ... rue#116962

And go here for info on running the multi-threaded GFN-16 MEGA tasks:

http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.p ... rue#127964

regards
Tim

PS: The Invitation code is "PrimeGrid".

Does this register as a different project to the main PrimeGrid?

Hi Mark

Yes it does !!

So credits are separate and therefore it is listed separately to PG (and Composite Grid).

For some reason, BOINCstats is not listing the teams and members contributing to this project.

My GTX970s are taking about 30 seconds per GFN13 task and about one minute per GFN14 task - having set an app_config.xml file to allow me to multi-task two tasks at once on the GPU...one can tweak this config, so one could run perhaps 3 or even 4 tasks simultaneously on newer GPU hardware...I've not yet tried to run 3 tasks at the same time...

The GFN16 tasks take quite a long time - between 12,000 and 40,000 seconds, (on Intel Core i5-9400F @ 2.9GHz from another user !) and might be longer/shorter depending on CPU hardware.

Credits are fixed at:

1.49 per GFN13 task
5.96 per GFN14 task
3,173.17 per GFN16 MEGA task

and the quorum is 2.

[UPDATED]
GFN13 tasks are for GPU only (presently)
GFN14 tasks can be run by CPU and/or GPU (selectable in project Preferences).
GFN16 tasks are for CPU only and you can run 4 threads at once, via app_config.xml linked to in the top post.

Our team stats on the project website are here:

http://boincvm.proxyma.ru:30080/test4vm ... avg_credit

The Top teams (by credit) are here:

http://boincvm.proxyma.ru:30080/test4vm ... tal_credit

UBT is currently ranked in 25th place (out of 27 teams) with just over 6k credits (mostly me at present). TSBT are in 16th place with 1.5m credits. 1st place team has about 100m credits.

Hi Mark

No worries....I'm mainly doing their GPU tasks, as Moo and Collatz are pretty much sorted for points/places on the FB Marathon (I think) so, I'm just ticking over on PRIVATE to at least make a start ;-)

Most of my CPUs are still on CPDN, and a few ODLK1 tasks, for when CPDN has no WIndows tasks available.
