Leiden closing

Post by Woodles »

From the front page:
09 may 2018
This project is reaching end-of-life. Automatic work generation has been stopped. Account creation has been stopped. Before the end of 2018 the server will be taken off-line.
As expected, Leiden is effectively shut down as of yesterday. No more work, just under 9k tasks ready to send according to the server.

UBT very comfortably in the UK number one spot (11 million as opposed to 3.8 million for TSBT in second place)

It's not a Formula Boinc or Pentathon project so nothing to gain there.

At this rate we'll be down to projects in the single digits soon!

Hi Mark

Shame....was always a good project with very few issues (IMHO).

It really does look like a few projects are giving up on BOINC, for whatever reason. And it won't be long before Johns "ubtstats" website is just kicking it's heels, with very few stats to update. :-(

Hopefully some other, better, projects, will come along and harness the processing power available via BOINC. But they need to be doing some serious work if they are to be considered "worthwhile".

regards
Tim

From their news feed:
05 june 2018
As of today the scheduler, file uploader and all other daemons have been stopped. The project web site will stay online for some time still
Shame but there hadn't been any work for quite some time :(

UBT going out with a fairly clear world top twenty finish (19th) and a very comprehensive UK number 1 :D

(Plus a handy ten points in last years Formula Boinc)
