Formula-Boinc 2018

Post by UBT - Mikee » Wed Dec 06, 2017 6:47 pm

Hi

Sebastian has posted the proposed project list for 2018.

http://formula-boinc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=100

Some interesting additions, and Primaboinca is still there!

Although QuakeCatcher has been struck the points are still showing for this year.

Hi Mikee

I've just "chipped in" with my suggestions too...

It's about time the FB admins did actually come out of the woodwork and divulge plans in advance...something that hasn't happened much in the past.

Tim

Hi Both,

Same 'two pence' worth here.

Hopefully it'll be put to a vote as UBT appears to be 60% of the members  :D

Hi

Just seen that Anguillan Pirates will be in league 3 next year. http://formula-boinc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=99
Aren't they an offshoot from TSBT? Or should I be keeping this quiet?

Hi Mike

Yes they are and I doubt anyone is trying to keep it a secret...as the various members of the "sub-group" switch between TSBT and AP at various times during the year.

But it's fun seeing Anguilla (as a country) some way up the country stats "league table" on BOINCStats ;-)

Hi Mark

There are quite a few people on the "Steering Committee" listed on the forum membership list so even though the FB forum is pretty quiet, I guess "behind the scenes" there is all sort of communications going on ;-)

Hi Mike,

Yes, it's an offshoot of TSBT and I think they'll do really well next year as I expect them to get a significant boost from SUSA during the year :D

Hi Tim,

Bryan (from SUSA) is on the steering committee and he's mentioned previously that nothing has been posted or discussed for a couple of years and any suggestions just get ignored. I think it's purely a L'Alliance Francophone (or even just a Sebastien) thing regardless of how they try to dress it up.

Hi Both,

Shame Leiden has gone, it was a well behaved project and I enjoyed it.

Did Sebastien even read the comments about CAS, DENIS, RNA, Sztaki or Wanless?!

On the plus side, I was going to abort my RNAWorld task to claim the extra couple of FB points this year but if it's still included next year, then I'll hang on to it, it may be the only RNA task that gets finished next year!

OK, as it's now officially 2018, does anyone have an invitation code for Xansons?

Mark

Hi

See we've just had a boost up to 10th place - a couple of projects have reached 2 million and we had points waiting to be claimed. BURP and ODLK.

Hi all

And as of the 12 midnight stats, we're now up to 9th !!

Looks like we'll be challenging BOINC@Poland and USA again this year ;-)

Hi all

EDIT: A further "push" on Numberfields project has resulted in UBT moving up to 7th, on 129 points.

Hi Tim,

I think you'll find it was Numberfields that got us 7th place :D

Hi Mark

Thanks for the correction - I'd got some of the rows on my spreadsheet mixed up, after I did a "sorting"... :-(

You were close though, it was VGTU that got us to 8th yesterday :)

Obviously your spreadsheets aren't as extensive as mine are

Hi Mark

I'll take your word for that !!

My spreadsheet is very simple and I just cut and paste the UBT stats from the FB team page and then shift some rows around, so that I take account of any newly added projects to the table.

I then have another couple of columns that shows the delta between the last set of pasted figures and the latest set.

But I had sorted it incorrectly, and some cell references got mixed up as far as the rows were concerned... :-(

Even so, it's nice to be moving up the FB table a little bit :-)

Hi Tim,

Pretty similar to me although I'm also tracking our four main rivals from last year (Germany, Poland, 3DNow! and USA) and the three newbies (Overclock, Overclockers UK and AnandTech) I also monitor the current totals of each team in each project and each teams RAC so I know if we're being caught or catching up.

I've made the same mistakes in the past with sorting and shifting data so it's all done automatically now.

True, almost back to our 6th place level of last year and that's with no sprints yet :)

Mark
