BOINC Pentathlon 2017

This section is where you can post topics related to Challenges from other websites, such as Formula-BOINC, SETI-Germany and BOINCstats, as well as project challenges such as from WCG, PrimeGrid et al.

As a Team, we really want to engage as many team members with these challenges, as this gives us a great way of attracting more members to our Team...plus we get to show our strengths as a Team by (hopefully) doing well in each one.

PS: I have moved lots of topics into this section where they are relevant...as you can see, we've always been happy to take part in Challenges...and long may that continue ;-)

BOINC Pentathlon 2017

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all,

I've had the following email, inviting UBT members to take part in the above Pentathlon.
hi UK BOINC Team,

less than ten months have passed since the seventh *BOINC Pentathlon*
came to an end. Now the Pentathlon is back to its usual date *from May 5
to May 19
* and SETI.Germany invites all BOINC teams to compete in five
disciplines at five projects for the eighth time.

This year, the stable and popular project World Community Grid is set
for the City Run discipline, with only one subproject being considered
for the Pentathlon.

The teams may enter their favorite WCG subproject and three additional
project suggestions while signing up using the using the registration
form until *April 27*.

The suggestions will be taken into account in the project
selection as described at
https://www.seti-germany.de/boinc_penta ... lines.html

All information about the BOINC Pentathlon is available at
https://www.seti-germany.de/boinc_pentathlon/, while you can find the
answers to many questions at
https://www.seti-germany.de/boinc_penta ... n_FAQ.html.

Looking forward to seeing you again at the Pentathlon! :)

Regards
pschoefer
SETI.Germany
So, if anyone wants to crunch for any of the specific projects that are chosen, feel free to set aside some crunching time between 5th and 19th May !!

regards
Tim

Hi all

So, I registered UK BOINC Team for the 8th Pentathlon and the projects that are to be crunched, as from 1am tomorrow (Friday) are:

City Run: WCG (OpenZika) (Start: 2017-05-05 00:00:00 UTC, End: 2017-05-10 00:00:00 UTC) - 5 days, CPU project
NB: To run these tasks, you must select the "OpenZika" project with the "Available Projects" on your account on the WCG website.

Cross Country: Einstein (Start: 2017-05-09 00:00:00 UTC, End: 2017-05-14 00:00:00 UTC) - 5 days, GPU project

UPDATE: 9th May

Swimming: LHC@home (Start: 2017-05-12 00:00:00 UTC, End: 2017-05-19 00:00:00 UTC) - 7 days

If anyone fancies taking part, ensure that you upload any completed tasks, from any of the selected projects, during the times and dates shown.

Good luck everybody :-)

Tim

Hi

Just cos I haven't done WCG for ages I'm doing the City run only as they're fairly quick. Only downside is WUs waiting validation.

Hi Mike

I'm just back from a business trip to Londonium, so I've tried to grab some WCG tasks, but it seems none are available. :-(

So, I'll grab some Cosmology and NumberFields tasks (as I think we still need some credits on NF) and I'll see if WCG sends me any work in due course.

Damn

Try to get some Einstein tasks and all I get is this:
09/05/2017 19:48:46 | Einstein@Home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
09/05/2017 19:48:46 | Einstein@Home | Requesting new tasks for Miner ASIC and NVIDIA GPU
09/05/2017 19:48:48 | Einstein@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
09/05/2017 19:48:48 | Einstein@Home | No work sent
09/05/2017 19:48:48 | Einstein@Home | No work is available for Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, GPU)
09/05/2017 19:48:48 | Einstein@Home | Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 on GPUs is not available for your type of computer.
and yet:
Work FGRPB1G FGRPB1 BRP4 O1Spot1THi O1Spot1TLo BRP4G in DB
Tasks total 2,177,224 1,127,098 351,472 164,235 57,825 0 3,877,854
Tasks to send 3,987 2,759 7,966 18,126 11,435 0 44,273
So, maybe something wrong on my PC so I'll stick to crunching Moo! Wrapper !!
