Re: UBT on Facebook / Twitter

Hi all I'm just "bumping" up this posting as yesterday the hosting servers for the forum had a bit of an issue, which resulted in it being very difficult to log into the forum. (it was nothing to do with the forum itself - just the service providers hosting platform that became "erratic" and "non-re...

Re: BBC Premier League Football Predictor

Well done, I missed too many midweek rounds for the premiership, I'll happily take 2nd in the SPL Hi Mark Excellent and well done for a very good 2nd place in the SPL table. And 16th in the PL table isn't a bad score either ;-) Also: Looking at how well he did, Lawro's result after 38 "sets" of gam...

Re: BBC Premier League Football Predictor

Hi all The footie season is now over and for those who played the BBC Predictor game, the final standings are now "in". Premier League In the UBT PL table, I ended on a high with 160 points on the final weekend, leading to a total of 2790 points and 7th place. The participants who actually scored po...

Goofy (NCI) project is back

Hi all Not sure if this is "news" to anyone, but I'm now able to download Goofy NCI tasks. How long this will continue for, I don't know... But if you've been crunching them before, time to "allow" tasks again. If you've not joined this project, use BOINC Manager to Add the project with this: http:/...

Re: Advertising on UBT forum

Hi all Well, I'm *STILL* waiting for Google AdSense to kick in....I believe they need to assess the website and make sure it complies with their criteria...but as they've not told me what the criteria is or even what they expect me to do (other than to add their code snippets), then I'm really not s...

Re: Leiden closing

Hi Mark Shame....was always a good project with very few issues (IMHO). It really does look like a few projects are giving up on BOINC, for whatever reason. And it won't be long before Johns "ubtstats" website is just kicking it's heels, with very few stats to update. :-( Hopefully some other, bette...

Re: Duchamp Sourcefinder closing

Hi Mark That's a shame...but OTOH, it might mean that the projects that continue to be active might attact more members crunching for them. The obvious downside is that the data gathered by projects will end and hence whatever research it is they are/were carrying out, will end. However, some previo...

Re: Sztaki closing

HI Mark Thanks for the update - with hindsight, it's obvious that the Pentathlon would have an effect as teams clambered for credits...and where we don't have enough "firepower" so those projects would suffer...hence we lost lots of positions on Numberfields. Sadly that project is the Pentathlon mar...

Re: Sztaki closing

Hi Mikee Well, we've gained 15 points on Sztaki and gained 10 points on the last Sprint...so that makes a gain of 25 points...and yet we're still on 178 points overall...I'd have thought we'd have more points than that? Have we lost out on some of the other projects recently? Maybe Mark has the answ...

Re: Damn, bloomin' computers

Otherwise, maybe you could set up a Boinc project to crack the codes? :D Mark Hi Mark OK - so, I'll set up such a project and you create a nice website which allows users to easily upload their "Login Data" files to me. Some sort of batch file that members download onto a USB stick and it "auto-run...

Re: Damn, bloomin' computers

Hi Mark Thanks for the info - extremely useful :-) I was aware that Chrome uses encryption to hide the password data...it was just a question of finding where abouts the actual file was.... I've also learned about this, a nice looking tool called ChromePass: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/chromepass....

Re: Damn, bloomin' computers

More issues !! So, the boot hard drive on this PC has actually now become dodgy.... It's been removed and installed as a "slave" on another spare PC which is running Win 7 Pro. All the important stuff has been copied off the drive...BUT Question: I've used both Chrome and Firefox browsers and I have...

Re: Advertising on UBT forum

Hi Tim, i don't know if you've been activated yet, but a couple of days browsing and i haven't seen any adverts. Granted, I do still have my ad blocker on but it hasn't shown as blocking anything here (plenty elsewhere though!) Mark HI Mark (and everyone else) I had to activate my Google Adsense ac...

Re: theSkyNet (POGS) has finished.

Hi Mark

I knew it was coming but I had hoped to raise my project total a bit more...though getting to #1 UK spot was going to take a monumental effort, as OcUK are so far ahead.

Still...at least it means we can concentrate on some other worthy projects.

Re: Advertising on UBT forum

Hi all OK, so I've been able to install the "Advertisement Manager" extension from phpBB. Once my account with Google Adsense is activated (probably within the next 24 hours or so) then in theory, as one advert should appear underneath the footer of one (or more) forum pages (in theory - as I though...

I use an ad blocker too (and don't tend to switch it off unless a site won't work otherwise), so I've just donated to cover the potential loss in revenue!! Re: Current Problem with Collatz [info]

Hi all I'd not heard much about the ongoing "fix" for this issue, so I took a look at the Collatz website. It looks like their entire message board has been re-installed and all the previous messages (many years worth) have GONE !! https://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/forum_index.php It also looks ...

Damn, bloomin' computers

Hi all So, I had to have a bit of a shift around at home, to accommodate a new piece of furniture, so I ran down my caches and shut down the PC (which has been on since I moved here 8 months or so ago). Got everything back in place and powered up the PC, which had moved literally about 8 inches...an...
