Re: SETI talk - 21st January 2019 in Didsbury, Manchester

In fact, come to think about it, I still have some SETI 15th Anniversary t-shirts that were sent to me (on behalf of some UBT members, who then didn't make a purchase) from a couple of years ago...at least one of which is signed. I'll have to dig them out and put one on !! http://www.ukboincteam.or...

Re: People losing credits?

Hi Tim, Not necessarily, from Boincstats - If you do not do so your data will be removed from the export and in accordance with the GDPR all your data from these projects will be removed from BOINCstats as well. This data can’t be recovered! Mark HI Mark Maybe you are the wrong person to ask (Willy...

Re: People losing credits?

Hi Jeff If active members update their preferences, on the specific project websites, then they will get their credits back (on the stats websites). It's only really the inactives where the credits may not get returned, esp, as in CPDN, where they have actually deleted the inactive accounts. AFAIK, ...

Re: User stats and GDPR

NumberFields has also succumbed to the GDPR "bug" and you'll need to authorise them to export your data. Apparently it's been added to the latest Boinc server code as a default so expect every project to follow suit eventually as they "upgrade". Thanks for the info Mark Slightly connected, ClimateP...

Re: SETI talk - 21st January 2019 in Didsbury, Manchester

It's not that far a drive for me from Halifax (just need to cross the border from Yorkshire to Lancashire, scary!) so I might give it a go. I've no other commitments that night that I can see.... Just look for a balding bloke with a white beard! (and wearing braces (of the trouser variety!)) Hi Jef...

Re: SETI talk - 21st January 2019 in Didsbury, Manchester

Hi both Thanks for the feedback. Indeed, mentioning UBT and it's prowess in supporting SETI (#1 Team in UK, #1 on SETI project, #1 in RAC on SETI, #1 in terms of membership size in UK) would be the #1 drivers for the flyer...and could indeed tempt people to give it a go. So, a bias on the flyer towa...

Re: SETI talk - 21st January 2019 in Didsbury, Manchester

Hi all So, a quick thought. The above mentioned talk will be (mainly) about SETI, but I would also assume that some of those attending might not know anything about BOINC or even UBT. And I think it might be a good idea to put together some flyers and leave them around in the bar (where the talk is ...

Re: SETI talk - 21st January 2019 in Didsbury, Manchester

I might try and get to this. It should dovetail well with another talk at Altrincham and District Astronomical Society on 4th Feb by Prof. Ian Morison of Jodrell Bank on "Are We Alone?" And there is bugger all on the tele to compete. Chris. Hi Chris Excellent stuff...hope to see you there :-) I'm n...

Re: SETI talk - 21st January 2019 in Didsbury, Manchester

Hi Tim, Bit too far for me to go on a Monday night and expect to get there before it finishes :D Mark. Hi Mark That's a shame - though it is quite a way up from your normal stomping ground !! I'm not the organiser for this - it's been arranged by the North West branch of MENSA so I have no control ...

UBT hits 900 BEEELLLION :-)

Hi all

I missed spotting this, but it seems that UBT has now achieved the 900 BEEELLLION credits mark:

https://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/team ... %20Kingdom

So, many grateful thanks to ALL concerned who have contributed to this fine total.

Excellent work - you really are motoring now :-)

It won't be too long (at current rates) before you'll be much higher (in the team rankings) than the 14th place you occupy now ;-)

Hi all So, it's THAT time of the year AGAIN.... ;-) And it falls on me to wish everyone a Merry Xmas (don't get too merry if you are driving :auto-swerve: - in fact, you shouldn't be driving at all !!), and if you are travelling (and hopefully not via Gatwick) then have a safe and leisurely journey ...

Re: User stats and GDPR

Hi Mark There are two extra tick boxes: General terms-of-use for this BOINC project. Do you consent to exporting your data to BOINC statistics aggregation Web sites? I assume that if the first one isn't ticked then you don't get work? The second one allows/disallows the exporting of each members LHC...

Re: £1000 for nvidia 1080ti

Hi Neil That's shocking...!! I guess NVidia are trying to generate profits based on the "Apple" methology - make something that lots of people want and charge as much as you like for it, as the brainless morons will just lap it up...!! And of course this will just inflate the second user prices too....
