Re: Why Linux p*$$e$ me off....

Glad it's working :) You'll get a slot opened every time a task starts, if some are suspended or not finished running yet then the slots will keep increasing. If you "reset" LHC it should clear away any files it's using. Of course, if it doesn't think you have any tasks running anyway then it won't ...

Re: Why Linux p*$$e$ me off....

You'll start off in your /home directory.

Open terminal

Code: Select all

cd /var/lib
sudo chmod -R 777 boinc-client
Enter your admin password.

One thing though - there's two sub-folders: "boinc" and "boinc-client" - I'm assuming one is just a "mirror" of the other - but which is the sub-folder that actually has the files in it?

(I'm assuming I need to chmod the correct sub-folder?)
You want "boinc-client"

Re: Why Linux p*$$e$ me off....

They have a small 'x' as Boinc is the owner not admin :P
You have super powers but you have to apply them, it's not automatic.

To give yourself all permissions permanenty:
Open a terminal window
Navigate to the directory you're interested in

Code: Select all

sudo chmod -R 777

Re: 80 Beeeelion credits!!!

Hi Tim, I remember in the early days trying to find a project that would generate a thousand credits in a day, now Collatz does that in a few seconds! Maybe with technology improving, we'll get that final 20 billion in time for Christmas :D Not all projects can be ran on GPUs, some tasks just aren't...

Re: 80 Beeeelion credits!!!

Hi Tim,

Just over a year to a hundred billion at todays rates (390 days) but much quicker at the rates generated when GPU sprints are on :D

"This time next year we'll be hundred billionaires"

Not counting BU of course.

Re: Gerasim at FormulaBOINC

Hi Neil, Sorry, I'm only doing the test separator tasks as they gave the same points per second but run for longer so less time lost loading, unloading and reporting. Maybe Carl has seen it, he's running ODLS tasks as well? The test separator tasks run fairly consistent on my hosts, still have inval...

Hi Tim,

Rumored to be 3GHz all core at 240W TDP.

Besides, I don't remember the Sinclair using DDR4 RAM, you may have lost a bit of money there
