Re: 24 hour outage

Saw that but didn't realise it was today, I'll have to make sure there's alternative projects selected.

Re: Nvidia 3xxx possible specs.

Hi Tim,

Swap two 1080s for a single 3070, 2/3 the power and 2.5 times the performance :)

.... or run it at 80% power for the same power as a 1080 but double the performance :D

.... or if you want to stay with 1080s, I may have a few going cheap in a couple of weeks

Re: Sawyer's Cancer Fighting Network

All four projects now at 998:125:13:53:16 Cancer projects now at 503:108:22:00:55 I noticed that the Sawyer website has now stopped updated its runtime value. Updated on the 6th - Since September 2019 we've done 989 years, 317 days, 13 hours of cancer research Should be finished today so I'll be swi...

Re: Why Linux p*$$e$ me off....

That would be another option (and the reason why I haven't fixed my issue) You also need " <allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc> " in cc_config.xml and a remote_hosts.cfg file containing the URL of the controlling host. Then " /etc/init.d/boinc-client restart " to restart the client and get...

Re: Why Linux p*$$e$ me off....

127.0.0.1 is the localhost and usually works, it makes sense to eliminate any possible BM 'feature' just in case though. Until you're connected you can't add a new project as BM doesn't know which host it applies to. If the Boinc service is running, you could try running the Boinccmd commands rather...

Re: Why Linux p*$$e$ me off....

Carl is correct, 'localhost' is the right way to connect locally. I have a similar problem on one of my hosts (also a Linux 32 core Xeon coincidentally) but after a power cycle, BM just sits there "disconnected" rather than asking for a project. Usually selecting "localhost" as the computer to conne...

All four projects now at 953:256:01:36:45 Cancer projects now at 496:187:016:18:24 Might just make 1,000 years in the selected projects but they're not going to get 1,000 years worth of cancer research before the time runs out. I'll continue until the sprint (if it's a CPU one) or until the end of t...

Re: Nvidia 3xxx possible specs.

Comparing to the RTX2080ti at launch with 4352 cores, 11 GB VRAM @ 1.5 GHz, 13.4 TFLOPS FP32, 250W and $999. The 3070 looks really good, 50% more FP32 FLOPS from 35% more cores, 10% less power and half the price. The 3080 looks very good, more than double the FP32 FLOPS from double the cores, and 30...

Re: Sawyer's Cancer Fighting Network

Just been re-reading Sawyers blogs and he only mentions "before my dad’s next birthday in September 2020" not the start. Also, he states that "We surpassed our initial goal on December 6, 2019, less than three months after we got started." Tends to imply the deadline is not the start of September bu...

Currently at 881 years out of 1,000 (21 August)

A great achievement, it would be a shame for it to fail at the last minute (I know, I haven't done much for it but I am now)
