Re: Fundraising (website running costs)

Hi Mark No worries ;-) In the end it was a very simple fix...but it was beyond me... And as Chris guessed it was all down to the phpBB cache throwing a wobbly...once the extension was disabled. Janos came to the rescue, purged the cache manually and all was good again. And I've learned something too...

Back again !!

Hi all Apologies for the small amount of down time. I'd been advised by my hosting provider to upgrade my installed version of php, plus I'd also seen a comment about their being Adverts being detected by Adblocking software. So, I tried to upgrade the former and disable the latter (as it wasn't act...

Hi all

New member registration has been suspended again, due to a large number of spambot registrations.

It will stay like this for a short period.

ReactOS gets an update :-)

Hi all So, for those who don't like M$ Windoze and can't get along with Linux, there aren't too many options. But one that has been coming along for a while is ReactOS, that allows you to run *some* (mainly older) Windows programs, without Windoze being installed. And there's news that a new version...

WCG has had many sub-projects over the years, so earning a badge before the sub-project closes is a good achievement :-)

Re: Gone dual monitor!

Hi Jeff Excellent stuff !! In the good old bad old days of Win XP Pro, I experimented with dual displays but it always went a bit t*tsup - probably because the CPUs and GPUs weren't really up for the task. I then tried with Win 7 Pro and despite newer CPUs / GPUs and better monitors, (using HDMI, in...

Re: Pick a number - GTX1180 / GTX2080 / RTX2080

Hi all Looks like NVidia have dropped the ball quite a bit, going by the recent financial reports they've posted in the last few days: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/02/15/crypto_crash_leads_to_inventory_pileup_at_nvidia_sales_slaughtered/ For Nvidia's Q4 ended 27 January, reported revenues slum...

Re: 3 beellion credits

Hi Good to hear from you :-) That's a good total...but I might have to trump you ( a little bit) as I just hit the 144 beeellion mark !! PC power supplies seems to be a bit of a curse for most crunchers...I've had a few go faulty, and sometimes, it can have knock-on effects if it damages any other p...

Re: User stats and GDPR

It's only going to get worse, VGTU didn't independently add it to their site, it's been incorporated into the latest BOINC server code and any project that updates will end up needing crunchers to agree. Hi Mark Agreed.... It would be easier but there's no centralised BOINC configuration location. ...

Re: Holy Grail: Dual V1 Xeon Mobo £69.99

Hi both On the mobo front - I was going to "sleep on it" and leave it until tomorrow to decide whether to buy, but with now 4 left, I've pulled the trigger on one piece... !! It might be older tech, but I've got a box of bits that are just lying around and I'd like to put it back into action. I was ...

Re: Holy Grail: Dual V1 Xeon Mobo £69.99

Hi Chris They have now sold 17 in the last 24 hours....and now 9 left. There is a small saving to be had for multiple items...but the saving isn't much compared to the extra cost of receiving one delivery (of a number of mobos)and then re-sending them to anyone else who was interested. (ie 74.99 vs ...

Hi Mark Thanks for the heads-up. I checked and it is set to being a UK team...however, more ominous was the fact that I wasn't a member of the Team (even though I am the founder)!!! Hi all So, the meeting took place as arranged and maybe 30-40 people turned up :-) (which was more than I was expecting) and it was good to meet forum members Jeffers and Chris (Suddick) who also came along. Prof Garret gave a nice talk for just under an hour, covering all sorts of matter, including...

I will update if the T-shirts are still available, tomorrow.
